I am perplexed. There are no filters active and I see the sub displayed correctly in the Scratch grid. Other sub items of this TLI are displaying correctly in the grid, but this sub does not. I have checked the property pane and all subs including the "missing" sub have identical properties except for the item contents and that this sub is displayed in zero grids. There are two ways i can get this sub to display correctly. One is to assign it to the grid. The other is to populate the sub item with children.

What am I not getting?

Perhaps share a screenshot showing the grid, the source, active filters, the parent item, shown siblings, etc

I agree that would be a good option, but as you know I have protected information which I cannot share. Perhaps if time permits, I can attempt to recreate the grid with demonstration data. In the meantime, do you have any thoughts?

2 things come to mind:
  1. If you hoist on the TLI (parent of the missing item), and then expand the TLI, does the "missing sub" now show ?
  2. If you do an Item > "Show all sub-items" does the missing item now show ?

Yes to both suggestions. The question for both situations is why? I am particularly interested as to why the "missing" sub should show only when it has children.

By the way, I was concerned over this because it was interrupting my (massive) workflow. The cursor was hovering over my Ecco Pro icon, but your suggestions dissuaded me. Now if I can only understand why this should be.

Perhaps Grid > Hierarchy is not set to full ?

(I must find a better name for the 2 hierarchy settings...)

I suspect that's it
@Jon - the Hierarchy button in the menu is 'split' - you've got to have "Full Hierarchy" on.
IIUC, without "Full Hierarchy" on, only items & sub-items meeting the source are shown.

This cropped up lately (the whole thread is relevant, I just linked to a post that summarises the problems).
This thread also relevant:

You are correct. I thought it was set to full - in fact, I am sure of it. I did not check that setting. Thank you for the hint. I will have to pay attention and see if the setting changes spontaneously. If it does, I will let you know.

Thanks again Pierre.

Great news !
And if you do see the setting change, please report back

If nobody uses regular hierarchy, I'll switch things around... Hierarchy would mean "full hierarchy" and I'll "invent" a new name for the current "regular hierarchy"
