I've mentioned that I'm in the process of entering a large amount of historical research into InfoQube.  Right now I'm doing a simple copy/paste from the source into IQ text fields.  I'm finding the process extremely slow and labor-intensive.  Maybe someone here has some advice on how to speed up the process.  Even a small improvement would be a big help over the long haul.

One thing that's making things so slow is that I'm breaking up the text by topic to give me maximum flexibility in sorting and filtering the information.  This means I'm typically copying only a few sentences or maybe a paragraph at a time.  I can't just copy pages at a time and paste it in one step.

It did occur to me just now that it might be faster to enter a big block of text then split it inside IQ.  I haven't looked it up yet but I'm guessing IQ has a "split item" function like Ecco Pro.  That would at least reduce the back and forth motion of copy/pasting one snippet at a time.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This could be helpful:
If you paste a larger block of text in a cell that isn't in editmode, it should offer to create multiple items, (one for each carriage return in the text).

I dont use split item myself, there was a discussion of it lately though:

Looks like split only works for the "item" column.  If so, that doesn't help me.  In the item column, I have the name of the historical source.  The quote from that source is in a separate text column.  That's the column I need to split.

Temporarily switch the tree to that other column and paste. It should do the trick
Let me know and if it doesn't work, I'll fix it.

Glad I could help... on a Sunday night !
A system popup could hint users that this is possible
A prime candidate for Paste > Special too

Regarding the idea of putting larger amounts of text in a single item and then using a Split command to chop it up into small pieces, that is definitely an option too.

The new split dialog introduced in v56 has handy options too !
It is also speedy. I've just pasted a large article and it parsed into 150 paragraphs in just a few seconds !

If you want, it may be more practical to copy paste lots of text into the HTML pane of a single item. Once all the text has been pasted, cut the text from the HTML pane and paste it in the item text, then use the Split command dialog.

HTH !
