If  the focus is on a number field and I press on a number (say 1), as soon as I press on an arrow to move to next item or field, the data disappears. If I enter 3 numbers, sometimes only the first and the 3rd will be kept. If I normally press 1 and 2, only 2 will be kept. If I press 1, wait a bit and then press 2, it's ok.
(Workaround : press F2 before editing)
Don't think it happens with other fields.

Comments

Has this problem been confirmed? Here it's easily reproducible and makes data entry perilous.
Thanks!

Here, the timing is important.

1- Focus on an empty number field using the keyboard.
2- press "1" and "quickly"/immediately move to another field using arrows.

Here the value disappears.
(If I'm slow and wait 0.5-1s in between each keystroke the value stays)

It doesn't happen in text fields.

It is 100% reproducible in a sample DB. Nobody else has that problem?

This is a short video of me trying to reproduce it. No success.
Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Many thanks ethanrox. No you're not doing anything wrong. I'm not sure why it does that here, but it has to do with timing.

Here, when I enter numbers, about 70% are missed or incomplete. I am going pretty fast, but I've always done that and it's always been okay. I'm basically typing as I would in a word processor or as I would in normal text fields.

In the screen cast, I'll enter numbers 1 to 5. Only a couple will show up (and #1 showed up because it was just erased -- any cell that's just been accessed will keep what I just typed...). Others will disappear : https://youtu.be/7QcdKqrIR3w

Video is private :)
I personally make them private by making videos "Unlisted" rather than "Private" because in the latter case you need to email the link or something.

Great that Pierre reproduced and fixed the issue.

Well for anybody reading this after the limited time - PM me for the video :)

Armando, I've always wondered how you get to have icons as field headers...

Just treat header as you would treat any other field and insert icons there using HTML tags:

Note that the icon name in the screenshot might not exist in your own IQ installation, because I have my own set of icons that I've put in the IQ "icons" folder .

The "text_list_numbers" is a gif in my IQ icons folder. You surround the file name with HTML tags : <img> </img>, as you'd do it in any IQ text field to have icons appear there. It's in the help file.

(Don't put too many icons in the icons folder -- I'm not sure if the issue of IQ loading all icons at start is still there, but it once was... with detrimental memory and GDI objects effects.)

An easier way now exists (since v0.9.26PreRel57): Column > Column Header > Caption ... A rich text editor comes up. Right-click to format and add icons.

It is however broken in v73c, but will be fixed in v74

Funny, I never noticed that! (Old habits die hard.) That's great (especially that it also works for the properties pane).

I'm still having problems with numbers.
Sample DB :
- a grid with many items showing
- add the order field/column
- go from item to item in the order column and type 123 as you'd usually type (123 isn't hard to type so it should be faster than typing "q*¨<@", whatever the kind of typer you are).

Here, in a sample DB, vanilla v76 install, I'll either get 1, or 13, but never 123, unless I type really  slowly, by any standard. I can post a screencast if needed.

Thanks!

Hello,
still a daily problem here. Most numbers need to be reentered s-l-o-w-l-y. Working a lot with numbers these days do it's difficult and very long
Text fields are OK. Not sure what the problem is with numbers.
Reproducible in a sample file with vanilla install, as I said.
Thanks!

Hi Armando,

I was able to reproduce the issue by turning down my CPU speed and was able to fix it. Hopefully v77 will be OK for you !

If you read correctly what I wrote, I did not say that your CPU is slow... only that mine is much faster LOL

It also says something about how fast CPUs are getting every 2-3 years...
