Highlight Search/Filter Words?

Submitted by viking on 2016/10/27 17:32
Ecco/EE has a great feature; when I search or filter items, the searched/filtered items shows the search word(s) highlighted.
Can this be done in IQ?

(Currently the items are found but the Searched/Filtered word(s) are not highlighted)

Comments

The live search window highlights words, elsewhere it is not.

Not 100% sure how that is supposed to work. The Help file seems to be outdated.

I selected Edit|Find which brought up a "binocular' Grid (is this the "live search window"?)

I searched for a word with "Search Current Grid" (=my ToDo List) and selected "Show items in current Grid"
It then found the items in my ToDo list but the word was not highlighted in the ToDo list.

They were, however, highlighted in the "binocular' Grid.
To see the full items, I selected them and ctril-shift as you advised in another post. The highlights then disappeared. I assume that is a bug?

I'm currently updating this page: 1. Live-Search

It should become clearer...

OK, but why does the highlights disappear after I select the items (so that I can see all lines - using ctrl-shift)? Is that a bug?

The highlight is not shown when the item is selected. I'll see if it can be improved. Simply select another item

But all the found items cannot be expanded (i.e. show the full item text if multi-line), by selecting one item ("another item") and then pressing ctrl-shift..?

In v85 you'll be able to select all items by pressing Ctrl + A and Ctrl + Shift to toggle wordwrap. Hightlight is shown if focus is not on the text column

HTH !

I also like that feature of Ecco/Extension very much, and I'd like to see it in IQ.

Meanwhile, the Auto-Search function can help you out.

After you use Ctrl+G to filter your grid, you can use Auto-Search (Ctrl+F3) to highlight characters that you type in (for example, the term you used for your Ctrl+G filter.

Ecco/EE will highlight every occurrence of the text you type in the box, all at once - but IQ auto-search will highlight only the next occurrence of the search term.  You press F3 to advance from one occurrence to the next.

Thanks! A good workaround.
Since it woks in two steps, I guess that it should be relatively easy to implement into one step (?).
