 Hi,

I've been trying for the past day to drag and drop an email from Outlook to a grid. Once dropped the item is created with the Subject of the email as the Item Name and the item name is also a hyperlink, unfortunately when I click on the hyperlink, or Ctrl+Click it doesn't open the email or do anything.

Am I doing something incorrectly? Or is this not possible?

Cheers,
Josh

Hi,

Dragging an Outlook item directly to a grid is not yet supported. Open the Hyperlink dialog and drag-drop an Outlook to that dialog works however.

Okay, I tried creating an item, then using the Hyperlink popup to drag and drop the Outlook item into . Unfortunately, it still isn't working, when I click it does not do anything.

I am using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 on Windows 10 1803.

Out of curiosity, I created a hyperlink in the Doc of the item to the Outlook item and it gives an error "Opening this link failed: Outlook:..."

Hi Josh,

Did you register the Outlook protocol ?

 Hi Pierre,

I used the OutlookProtocol2013 version, since it is the closest to what I have, Outlook 2016.

Is there a new version of the protocol? Or does it not work for Outlook 2016? I didn't see anything about 2016 not working on the Hyperlinks page.

I tried running the protocol, confirmed yes, tried using the links it is still fails, I also tried closing IQ and Outlook and restart the computer, but the links don't do anything.

Cheers,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Try modifying the 2013 version for 2016...
To do that, open the .reg file in Notepad and change Office15 to Office16 (2 places)

Please report back and if it works, I'll provide a file in the distribution

HTH !

Hi Pierre,

That worked! Thank you very much.

Even drag and drop from Outlook to the grid created the new item with the link and clicking the link works, instead of opening the hyperlink field and dragging to there.

Thank you again!

Cheers,
Josh
