Is hyperlinking, similar to grid, implemented in HTML pane yet?
BTW, I couldn't put a hyperling to a web page in HTML pane either.
Thanks,
Jay

To create a hyperlink, select some text in the HTML pane and do Menu>Format>Hyperlink (or right-click). Enter the URL.

In 0.9.24 (to be released in a few days), you can also enter internal links using the same syntax as the grid defined here:

An improved UI for internal links in the HTML pane will follow.

Do you get the (IE supplied) UI? :

Are you sure that you aren't in browse mode (i.e. you can edit)?

So
  1. You select some text
  2. Click to see the Hyperlink UI
  3. Enter some URL (i.e. www.google.com)
  4. Click Enter and no hyperlink appears?
Can you supply a screenshot? I've never seen this, and in all this, it is IE doing its thing... not me.

Can you insert a hyperlink in say Outlook Express?

Yes,to 1,2 & 3 -- as a result I see what looks like hyperlink but I can't click it
In regard to inserting hyperlink to Outlook express - the hyperlink works , but I need to first send it -- I sent it to myself to make sure, and it did work. But that's how it works in Outlook Express, as far as I know.

To trigger the hyperlink:
  • Edit mode: Hold the shift   CTRL key and left click. [edited]
  • Browse mode: Left-click on the link

It works. I didn't know I should do that.
Was I supposed to?
Is that included in the manual somewhere?
And is it a normal way to click hyperlink in IQ HTML pane?(In Word it is different)

Many thanks,
Jay

Most editors (including the one used in this community web site) do not activate hyperlinks, as it makes editing more difficult.

I use MSWord 2002 and Ctrl+Click is used to follow the link.

I could use Ctrl+click too, if users think it is a better choice

(in MSWord as in IQ, Ctrl+click select the entire paragraph)

[edit] I'm now updating the status bar with this info.
[edit] Now using CTRL + click

So this is the way it works in IQ -- by Shift+click. It' s not just because my computer works differently? Sorry, but I can't get over the fact that I didn't know that before, and I could have been using it for almost half a year now (not only that but also file:, ftp:, mailto:, etc!). It's not in the instructions, as far as I know. Maybe it is assumed that everybody should know that. Should he? Pretty damn good program -- terrible documentation! I doubt it could be fixed by collective volunteering  wiki sort of way. This is a perfect example of how a little thing (maybe not so little -- again good guide is probably way more important , and way more time and effort consuming that some could realize) could completely ruin otherwise a really great experience.
Thanks
Jay

I can only agree with you, the documentation specific to the HTML pane is nearly non-existent. A single page: 4. Document Pane

ctrl+click would be good. I personally would prefer that option -- browse mode is less intuitive, IMO, when you want to quickly follow a link in a page you're editing.

(It should probably be noted that MHT "documents" viewed in the HTML pane have links that are always directly clickable... since there's not "edit" mode)

OK, IQ now uses MSWord convention: Ctrl+click to follow link (both for internal and external links)
