 Is it possible to include tags as part of the items to be searched in both the Omni Search and the Advanced Search.
At the moment it appears that tags are not considered as TextFields

Tags are stored in the item field, with the Tags field checked and a value for TagID. Checkout the Tags grid
 
So you should be able to find items used as tags with both live-search and advanced search

What I meant was that to also include the tag field in the search results for a search term which is part of the tag text; for example:-
 
If I have a tag named CRIMP and I have tagged it 23 times, when I search for "CRIMP" at the moment only the items with the word CRIMP in the item field (and/or other textfields) are shown. I would also like to see the 23 items tagged CRIMP to also appear in the search results.

OK, got it,
 
In the live-search grid, you can view items tagged Crimp or items with the Crimp text, not both.
 
A grid can show that however, no problem. Set the source to: #Crimp OR [Item] like "*Crimp*"
