Hello all,

I am new to IQ-IM but not to outlineres in general, so I've lately been trying to bend the free IQ Outliner to my will.

Using the excellent [node:4940,title="primer"] by Cyganet, I've now set up a single-pane outliner, and experimenting with its different exports.

I really like the possibility to export non-heading items only, but I would also really like to construct a grid likewise only displaying normal text without any of their associated headers.

It ought to be possible to make a grid filtering for content items, as they all have the attribute ItemSkipStyle:True, but exactly that attribute seems nowhere to be found in the Item Properties pane.

My goal is to have my actual outline hidden/underlying, leaving only my different headings' asscociated text items concatenated into one text much like what Outline 4D does in its “Content Only" view, see drandus.wordpress.com/2013/01/13/outline-4d-for-drafting-and-reverse-outlining/ but not necessarily indented - rather not, actually.

I may be overlooking something and would be grateful for any advice in order to make this work.

Thanks,

Hi Outlinely,

Indeed, these non heading items have field ItemSkipStyle checked, but this field is hidden
You can nevertheless have a grid based on that field. Set its source to that field and voilà !
The order of items will most likely not be correct, for that, you can use a number field and use IQ's renumber command to fill it up
As to the outline vs flat view, set Grid > Display mode to Flat list if you want flat.

In summary:

In your main outline:
  • Fully expand item
  • Add a numeric column: MyOrder
  • Column > Select column
  • Edit > Renumber
In your "content" grid
  • Grid > Source bar
  • Grid source: ItemSkipSyle
  • Grid Sort: MyOrder
  • Display mode: Flat list
Do not hesitate to ask for more details if you need.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've got the content grid up and running with content in wrong order as you predicted.

I have also added the MyOrder column to my actual outline and selected it, but I cannot find the Renumber command anywhere and certainly not in the "Edit" submenu, I'd have expected from the above.

Sorry to be dim, and I can certainly overlook things (Did so with ItemSkipStyle, even after much loooking around)

Hi Outlinely,

You're off to a good start !

The Renumber command is now shown by default in IQOutliner, but you can easily add it
See this page on how to customize the menus: Customizing Menus and Toolbars

HTH !
