Hi IQ Users !
 
The current rage for Zettelkasten method and apps like Roam, Dynalist and Obsidian has prompted us to make a number of UI improvements. This was the focus of v116
 
v117 goes in the same direction implementing two-way sync with Evernote !!  
 
You can now: 
  1. View / edit selected IQ content on your phone and other mobile devices
  2. Arrange your Evernote notes in a hierarchy inside IQ
  3. Add an unlimited number of meta-data to your Evernote notes, to sort / filter / group, etc
  4. Batch move Evernote notes to / from the Trash
  5. Share IQ content publicly or with specific users (using EN share)*
  6. Store sensitive content in local notebooks—i.e. no cloud (a truly useful feature but no longer available through Evernote)
 
In v117:
  1. New: Evernote Sync. Details here
  2. New: Evernote Sync: Support for text highlight. EN supports only 6 colors. The sync engine will match the IQ text highlight color to the closest color
  3. New: Evernote Sync: Sync from IQ to EN is initiated as soon as the Doc content is saved
  4. New: Evernote Sync: Loose sync between EN source URL and IQ field URL. Values are synced but deletion do not
  5. New: Grid: Drag-drop a file that already exists now gives an option to use the existing item instead of creating a new item

Pre5 is a great release for usability!
I didn't realize it at first, but the F2 is very handy for updating tags in the grid. I believe I'll now be adding the Tags column to most grids. (And I think I'll be using it often enough to remember the F2!).
It is great having the hyperlink to the tags in the livesearch.
The omnibox improvement is extremely helpful with my 1201 (and counting) grids.

Good to see the continuing progress! However, the link to v117Pre8 portable doesn't work. One gets "404 Error. Page Not Found." But the links to the Pre8 patch and the Pre8 installer do work.

  11. Fixed: Startup: Warning message was shown if the Print Spooler is not running or if no printer installed. Now only shown before printing
  12. Fixed: Some older IQBases had the Notes field as ID=19. On opening these, Notes is now ID=49 (and field ID=19 is now FileTextSize, a system field). Grids and forms should not be affected
  13. Fixed: Remote Database Sync to the new website now works. The Welcome to IQ file was updated

  1. Fixed: Grid: When using the mouse, the item shown in panes could sometimes be an incorrect one (the previously selected one, not the current)
  2. Fixed: Grid: Copy / paste 2 or more columns did not work

  3. New: Doc pane / Item editor: Image properties dialog improvements (more keyboard friendly, new button to reset image size, Enter closes dialog)

  5. New: Manage Grids: Deleting a grid now has an option to delete field with the same name
  6. New: Options: If Grid back color is not set to alternating colors, most UIs will show grid lines to help separate items

  8. Fixed: Grid: URL drag-drop: Browse caption was not always correctly captured

  5. Change: Grid: New items now appear at the bottom of the grid (faster plus it preserved pasted item order)
  6. Change: Grid: Delete Item > Remove from this parent only (option 3) now also unchecks the grid field value if set (other value types are not affected)
  7. Fixed: Grid: Item order was sometimes changed (in particular during copy - paste)
  8. Fixed: Grid: Edit > Paste Tab-Indented format did not work
  9. Fixed: Grid: Hiding a column that groups other columns now correctly hides those columns too
  10. Fixed: Grid: When Group By is On, tree lines were not shown correctly
  11. Fixed: Grid: When a column filter is active and the Tags column is shown, adding an item immediately disappeared
  12. Fixed: Calendar: Creating a repeating event did not initially show correctly, requiring a refresh

I'm really happy with this change!  It improves the consistency of the grid's behaviour, since items pasted/imported under a parent were ordered correctly, but pasted TLIs were ordered upside down.  Thanks!

In v117 (release):

  1. New: Grid: Multiple File drag-drop: When an existing item points to the same file, option to skip the action dialog for the remaining files
  2. New: Grid: Any change to the column set-up is immediately saved (improved crash recovery)
  3. New: Doc pane / Item editor: Copy link context menu command
  4. Change: Grid: Drag-drop: Hold Shift forces sub-item. Hold Alt forces sibling. Otherwise, drop as a sibling if left of the mouse down position, as a sub if right of the mouse down position. If Shift key is down, will not automatically expand drop target item
  5. Change: Grid: Drag-Drop: GroupBy items are now excluded from any drag-drop. Item height is increased to visually enhance groups

  7. Fixed: Grid: Creating a new grid could take significant time (in particular if many grids are opened)
  8. Fixed: Grid: Hyperlinks pointing to a shortcut was not resolved when the link was stored in the URL field

Question: what does "mouse down position" mean?  I can't quite visualise the drag and drop behaviour from the description.

Well done indeed!

"mouse down position": In v117, when you grab an item and dag and drop it to another vertical position in the grid, if the mouse cursor is to the left of the "grab position" (i. e. where you pressed the left mouse button down to start the drag and drop operation), it is added at as a sibling at the release position. If the curosor is to the right of the starting position of the drag, it is added as a child item.

So far, I really, really like this!!

  4. New: Doc pane / Item Editor: Support for image hyperlinks (before, hyperlinks had to be text)
  5. New: Doc pane / Item Editor: MHT type content: Will attempt to apply the item stylesheet if defined. Net result will depend on the MHT content
  6. New: Hyperlinks: Now supports multiple links (separate with | or Shift+Enter). On click, a dialog will list hyperlinks. Select one or cancel
  7. New: Hyperlinks: Now support direct links to OneNote page sections. This means you can now copy a section of a OneNote page, paste it in IQ and then link this content back to the OneNote page section
  8. New: Evernote Sync: Manual sync now displays a popup window or a dialog (if fails)
  9. Fixed: Grid > Go To > Home / End did not work
  10. Fixed: Grid > Go To > End (Ctrl+End) was slow for large grids
  11. Fixed: Grid: End key did not always move focus to the last column (when some columns were hidden)
  12. Fixed: Doc pane: F5 did not refresh pane

  2. New: Live-Search: Zoom In/Out/Reset and 2-finger pinch now work for both the Tags pane and the results grid
  3. Change: Grid: XML Copy: Item Created and Modified values are only copied if Only Copy User values is not checked
  4. Fixed: Grid: Using Item > Font > Grow/Shrink now properly removes the font size when close to the grid font size
  5. Fixed: Grid: Items with custom font attributes (bold, underline, etc) now scale correctly when executing a zoom in/out/reset
  6. Fixed: Calendar: Selecting an event in the left pane (under Today, Tomorrow, Shown, etc) did not register as an item focus change (and panes did not update accordingly)
  7. Fixed: Calendar: Today and Tomorrow events are not initially shown. Requires a refresh (F5) to show
  8. Fixed: Live-Search: Failed to return items with ', such as "can't" or "father's day"

    1. New: Gantt: Double-click will scroll to show the item's Gantt bar. Particularly useful when Auto-Scroll is off
    2. Change: Gantt: Selected dates are now shown as a solid color (before it was just an outline). Click on the date header to select dates. Header level selects corresponding chart region (day, week, month, year). Hold Ctrl to select more than one date. When used in conjunction with Overview, selected dates can be useful to be able to easily switch between two or more date ranges
    3. Fixed: Printing: Improved printing for all UIs, better printer support and page size selection
    4. Fixed: Grid: When using the WYSIWYG editor, one or more characters were sometimes dropped when resizing the edit window
    5. Fixed: Gantt: Week number display was not using ISO8601 standard

    The splash screen and title bar still show 117e, but the build displayed on the title bar is 7/16/21 (today).  I don't know if the patch file has the same discrepancy - I downloaded the whole package.

    IQ v117 series is coming to a close as the last bugs are being squashed. As always, this update also includes a few surprise goodies 😎😮👍

    In v117i:

    1. New: Grid / Properties pane: Date fields now support the following short form entries: n: n'th day of the current month, +n / -n: add / remove n days from the current day
    2. New: Grid: Edit > Recalculate / Touch commands are now executed for all selected columns (before it was only done on the focused column)
    3. New: Gantt: Double-click now scrolls the chart to show the item's Gantt bar, aligned with the current click position. Particularly useful when Auto-Scroll is off
    4. New: Options: Main title bar now support {ItemID} tag
    5. Fixed: Grid: move item left/right causes vertical scroll flicker (when near the top)
    6. Fixed: Grid: Column equations with parameters were not updated when the parameter was changed
    7. Fixed: Grid: Column filter text string is now closer to SQL equivalent
    8. Fixed: Start Page: Browse for file link did not work, hyperlinks opened two copies of the page
