The contents of the columns can be left, center, or right aligned. Can the headers also be aligned?

Indirectly yes, as the grid caption supports all grid HTML tags. See Embedded Formatting (in-cell formatting section)
 
So... you can use <r>YourCaption to right-align. Unfortunately, there is no way currently to center the header (it is easy to add though...)
