I don't know what happens, but for several grids I completely lost my filters histories over the last 2 weeks.
This represents many hours of work.

IMO :
- Filter history's saving could be made more robust
- Filter history could be backed up or imported/exported.

Anybody else experienced that ?

Comments

I've had it happen occasionally.

I've got all my IQ filters under my IQ grid, just in case (and to put a comment on what it means, on the fancier ones.)

IMO also, a text import/export would be very helpful--I generally use filters over and over between grids.

I added this to the description :

"Filter history's saving could be made more robust, maybe backed up or imported/exported in separate files. That would also allow users to share sets of filters."

MANTIS
Update Issue1084  Keep loosing complete filter history for grids  Bug average

I know what does it : as soon as a grid name is changed, the filter/sort history is erased. I'll add this info to the Mantis issue. Is this possible to fix ? Thanks.

Wonderful !

I had tried to reproduce it without success. This will make it easy to fix it.

More details about this problem : On further examination it seems that the problem isn't just linked to a change of the grid's name. whenever I actually change something (*anything*) in a grid's configuration, using the manage grid dialog and save it, the sort and filter history are deleted... Note that the grid must be closed and reopened for the history deletion to occur. The deletion won't immediately be apparent if grid stays opened during and after the "manage grid" operations. Thanks EDIT : In Multi-level column headers, i posted the steps to reproduce the problem. Here's the quote :
1- create various filters in a grid's filter text box (the center one in the source-bar). Check that the filter history is there by clicking on the down arrow at the left of the text box .. Normally it should. 2- ctrl-s to save its settings (just to make sure...) 3- open "manage grids" 4- change a setting in that grid (name, filter, auto-size width, whatever...) 5- save and close the dialog 6- Close the grid and reopen it 7- click on the down arrow at the left of the filter text box : all previously used filters are gone. This happens only when some modifications are made to the grid's settings in "manage grids"
