how to prevent resorting of subitems?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/12/29 18:32
I have an item with many subitems, manually arranged in a specific order, and was later dismayed to find that they had been sorted in alphabetical order.

Not sure how this happened.  The grid is set to sort items in ascending alphabetical order by the contents of the Item field.  The Item column header has the upward arrow.  The sort box is empty, but the sort box button settings are "Sort On" and "Sort Items", not "Sort Items and Subitems".

Anyway, is there a way to lock the sorting of an item's subitems, so that the manual ordering will not be affected by any global sorting setting?

On a somewhat different question - I would like to be able to open an item in a Scratch grid (perhaps after I have found it in using Quick Search (binoculars)), and then have the subitems displayed in the same manual ordering I created in the grid in which I entered them.&nbsp

Why are subitems disappearing?

I know "why are my items disappearing" has been a common question but now I have one of my own.  I thought I understood the rules for this, but maybe not.

I did a grid refresh and several subitems disappeared.

1) I opened a scratch grid showing all items by creation date.  The subitems are there, underneath the proper TLI,

2) Full hierarchy and context parents are on (I tried turning each on and off - didn't make a difference).

3) I tried Item>show all subitems.

4) No filters are on

I thought all subitems should show underneath their parents unless there's a filter in effect that excludes them.

HTML pane woes continue

Submitted by WayneK on 2015/12/28 11:16
I had high hopes that the promised fixes to the HTML pane in release 63 were going to resolve my problems.  Unfortunately, they haven't.

I've already discussed the problems with displaying pdf's which I've had since I started using InfoQube more than a year ago.

I've also discussed problems with images.  Well, they're back yet again.  Everything will be working fine as I paste images into the HTML pane, then suddenly I start getting the "black square of death" and I know my work is at an end.  Once it starts doing that, there's no cure for it except to wait for hours or days until it suddenly starts working again, temporarily.

I'm feeling pretty discouraged about it right now as i've sunk hundreds of hours of research time into using InfoQube.  What utterly baffles me is the randomness of the problems: something works, then it doesn't work, then it works, then

'Getting Started' Documentation Queries

I'm looking at the "getting started" documentation, so thought I'd start a thread for related queries.

On the -- link to nonexistent node ID 860 -- page (shopping list tutorial), instructions are given to create a new sample file -- and then delete the contents:

  • If you haven't created a Database yet, then click on File -> New (click)
(Clicking on "New" will create a "New IQBase with sample data"; note that we DON'T want a "New blank IQBase", from the sub-menu option).
    Give it a name.

  • [..]

  • The shopping list example is included in the new file just created, so to do it yourself, completely erase all data:

Column display problem after modifying fields

Working with a new file --
Creating and modifying fields:
right-click column header to the right of the 'item' field and open the Field Properties dialogue, click save and close it, the columns (apart from the item field) collapse to about 1cm width on my screen.
=> They also loose wordwrap.

As you can imagine, quite distracting when setting up a new grid + fields.
