Paste special

Submitted by Jon on 2016/02/09 08:17
Using version 69.

I had to copy / paste some structured text into IQ and none of the paste options produced the results I was looking for. (Please, this is not a big deal and requires no attention. The selection was unusual and I could easily massage it into what I needed.) I tried paste special and nothing happened. I don't think I have used this option before, so I don't know which additional choices it is supposed to offer or if it ever worked.

Column Filtering Question

Submitted by David_H on 2016/02/07 16:00
Questions:

1. You have a text column that uses a pop-up list with four values - value 1; value 2; value 3; value 4.  "Entry must be in list" is selected.

Now you are in a grid and click the filter drop down arrow at the top of the column and select "Value 1".  Now all items with that value appear in the grid.  But now if you click the filter again, the only value that is available for selection (technically now deselection), other than all, blanks and non-blanks is Value 1.  You have to click on "all" to show all items, before you can then click on the filter again, and see the other four values.

Is there a way for the column filter to always display all the values in the pop-up list, so the user can just jump back and forth between values?

Syncing Question

Submitted by David_H on 2016/02/07 05:09
I currently use DropBox to keep IQ in sync across computers.  I do not use the Dropbox mechanism introduced in release 48 yet, but might start to.  I use the portable version, and currently sync the IQ databases, but not the IQ folder\Users\YourUserName folder that stores customized menu settings, option settings etc.

I would like to start to sync that folder as well, but have avoided doing so because without some sym link workarounds it would require putting the IQ program files in Dropbox, and program files sometimes don't sync well.  So....

1. Will the new DropBox mechanism released in version 48 keep settings stored in the Users folder in sync?

2. If not, will it do any harm to keep the entire IQ folder with program files (and therefore the user folder) in the DropBox folder?

Thanks

Calendar Question

Submitted by David_H on 2016/02/03 18:09
Sorry for the nebulous nature of this question.  I am starting to use the calendar some, in anticipation of Pierre getting calendar sync going again some time this year.  I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that in a past version of IQ I could right click on an item and select something like "create calendar item" and it would pop up a calendar entry, which would be a sub-item under the item, for instance if you wanted to schedule an appointment against a contact in the address book.  Or maybe it was a command from the toolbar?

Obviously I can just create a sub-item and then select "show in calendar", but is there a way to automate it into one step per what I think I remember above?  I tried to add a couple of calendar commands to the right click menu to see what they do, in case one of them would create a sub-item that also pops up an event dialog, but no love.

Thanks

Version 0.9.26Pre-Rel69 is now available !

Hi IQ Users,

In this release (v0.9.26PreRel69) :
  • New: Grid: When creating an .odc, warn user if the grid is not visible to other applications, and offer to make it visible
  • Fixed: Grid: Refresh did not apply Ctrl+G type filtering
  • Fixed: Split an item could create 2 new identical items instead of one
  • New: Grid: Improved Hoist (item expand states matches pre-hoist display)
  • Fixed: Universal clipper had (again) an issue with importing latin character content

Paste under the selected item

I think I've asked for that years ago and I work around the issue everyday.

It's possible to drop marked items under a selected item (which is logical), but it's not possible to paste under a selected item (unless one creates a bogus item under that item, select the bogus item to be able to paste items "as children" of the previously selected item, etc.).

Anyway, it would be great.

I'm just not sure how to implement that without creating a monster "paste dialog".
