Item Editor increase maximum width of Folders and Tags pane

Submitted by KeithB on 2020/12/20 12:42
I'd like to see the Folders and Tags pane of the item editor have a greater maximum width,
As shown, I can drag the bar to the left to make the numbers show, but I have no way of having the entire field/grid name and grid indicator arrow show for some of my grids.

By the way, thank you so much for the filtering boxes; I hope you keep them coming (maybe Manage Fields next?).

[solved] External editor no longer launching from doc pane

Submitted by Cyganet on 2020/12/18 05:18
Hi!

I have defined an external editor for markdown, and it used to be possible to launch it from the doc pane using the Edit Document (F2) command. Right now when I click the button on the toolbar, or click on the Doc Pane Menu > Edit > Edit Document, or press F2 it just toggles between View and Edit Modes. How to fix this?

Thanks!

New items cannot be shown in calendar

Submitted by Cyganet on 2020/12/15 11:35
Hi!

When I create new items with dates they no longer show up in the calendar. They're in the same grids that have all earlier items showing in the calendar, using the same date fields which have "in calendar by default" ticked. When I go to the ItemInCalendar field and manually tick it or click toggle value, the value doesn't "stick" - it keeps reverting back to unticked. I tried Database > Repair but that didn't change this behaviour. Has anything changed in how the calendar works?

I'm using InfoQube IM version 0.9.116m build 02/12/2020 11:23:20.

paste bug - highlighted text not replaced by pasted text

Submitted by jimspoon on 2020/12/11 15:19
Using 116m.  I copied a file path to the clipboard.  Then I put an IQ cell into Edit Mode, and used Ctrl+A to highlight the existing contents.  Then Ctrl+C to paste the new text into the cell.  The Paste Special dialog appeared, asking if I wanted to paste Unicode or HTML format.  I pressed Enter to paste Unicode format.  The highlighted text was not replaced.  Rather the pasted text was prepended to the existing text.  Bug?

importing from xml-type data files

I have a number of programs that store data in hierarchical XML or JSON type formats, and I'm wondering whether it would be possible to import this data into IQ, perhaps with user assignment of the XML elements to IQ fields.

For example, I have a bookmark program called Linkman.  It is very good but no longer actively developed.  I often think how I could do more with the data in IQ than I can in Linkman.  I can get the data into IQ but it's much more difficult than it should be.  The export to CSV or TSV is not easy and that does not preserve the hierarchy of the data either.  I examined the Linkman data file.  It is XML type even if it is not exactly completely XML compliant (there is no root element, for example).  But it is easy to see how the hierarchy of folders and bookmarks is achieved.

Here's a typical folder element:
