As a new member of the IQ community, I have probably spent well over a hundred hours working through new user gotchas, making suggestions, and making videos on bugs and Gantt chart problems. But so far I have not tried to use IQ for any productive work.

Yesterday, I decided to start using IQ for planning and productive work. However, I got so frustrated with the HTML Editor that I am about to go nuts.

I know a new word processor is coming, but meantime, is there some way to just make the default font bigger so I can see it? If I use the zoom button the word processor goes bonkers (ref:http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/2311), and without the zoom the font is so small I cannot read it without eye strain.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dave,
look for "Default template for HTML and MHT documents" - about half way down the page 4. Document Pane

It's a long time since I've done it myself so cant say any more

Dave, Tom points out the correct place to make the changes to the default HTML document but -- as one who is as frustrated about this as you are -- I can tell you that a change in font will work but sizing only works up to a point. For example, for starters I like to work in Courier New @ 14pts. The New HTML doc does not translate the size correctly. It looks like a `1 or 12pt to me. It may have something to do with format sizes within the document being displayed as 1-2-3-4 but the new HTML doc is displayed as 10-11-12, etc.

Tom and Jan,

Thanks for your help, I'm on the right track now.

I can see the default font size is 11pt, and as you say Jan, that should not look so small as it does. So, I remembered from working on the bug where the editor goes bonkers (ref:http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/2311) that zoom seems to work okay if you use Times Roman or other fonts rather than the default MS Sans Serif. So I set the default to Times Roman and now I can use Zoom without the editor going haywire. However, I can't seem to set the default zoom. So, I'm still playing around with that.

I can't seem to set the default zoom. If I set it to 1.6 it still comes out as 1.

Anyone got any idea of what I am doing wrong?

To set the default font, is quite simple:
  • In any item that has a blank HTML content, do Menu>>Format>>Font and select the desired font
  • Menu>>File>>Save as Default
  • Just in case, do Menu>>View>>Reset zoom
  • Now, any new items should use this default font (face, size, attributes)

Pierre, that's cool. When did that happen? It works like a charm. Thanks. Makes my life easier.

I see I got this out of sequence on the replay above. So let me try again:

I can't seem to set the default zoom. If I set it to 1.6 it still comes out as 1.

You should not need to set the zoom inside the default file. Zoom is a display setting, and as such does not belong to an individual document.

I'm pretty sure that the IE engine ignores the zoom setting in a file and uses whatever the user is currently using.

Best is to set the default font size instead !

I am so damned embarrassed.

Hi Dave,

Sorry if you're having difficulties with the HTML editing pane. Has this discussion helped you ? Any outstanding issues ?
