Hi IQ Users,

While users keep testing, a few more fixes are now available. In this release (v0.9.26PreRel67) :
  • Fixed: Improved support for Unicode characters, including asian
    • Grid font must either be blank or set to an Unicode font, such as @Arial Unicode MS (Manage Grid > Options > Default Font)
    • The default grid font must also be set to a Unicode fond, since it is used by such things as the docking pane caption font
    • The HTML pane content must have the proper META tag in the HEAD section. This one works:
      <META content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" http-equiv=content-type>
    • The NewHTML.HTM file should also have this META tag. I've updated the one supplied with IQ. You should copy this to your user folder and re-start IQ
    • To test, on a new item, in the HTML pane, turn on Code view and see it the tag is there
Known issues:
  • Bold, Italic, Color, etc commands will corrupt your text. You can still enter formatting codes by hand.
  • In the grid, do not start editing by simply typing.Press F2 instead. If you just type, it will corrupt the Unicode
  • There may be others, keep an eye open and report back

Those that do not need Unicode support, should probably stick with v66 as it hasn't been tested thoroughly..

EDIT:
Links in the download section point to v66, not v67.

Thanks a LOT, Pierre!
I am gonna test it right away.

Oups, I had inverted the links between v66 and v67. Fixed !

Hi

Quick tests for German Umlaute and Cyrillic script ->everything works perfect.
Thanks again :)

A small point - the CJK fonts that start with '@' (e.g. @Arial Unicode MS) are for use in vertical text and have rotated versions of Asian characters (Latin characters usually remain unchanged).  You probably want just 'Arial Unicode MS'.

Here, clipped web pages (Chrome) in French appear with weird or blank characters (accented ones and probably others). V66 works correctly.

Did you overwrite your htmlnew.htm file with the one from the package ?
Or at least add the encoding line to yours. Utf-8 is apparently the way to go...

OK, I'll try all that later. Thanks!

It doesn't work (all kinds of weird chars.

I replaced my htmlnew.htm file with the one from the package.
Also for some reason, IQ froze when I tried to display a French text [EDIT : a text I had captured with the new HTML meta tag].

Could be that I missed a step. I just replaced the html files mentioned  above and didn't do anything else.

Anybody is able to clip properly in French or even English with V67? (Clipping using the HTML pane -- both English and French contains gibberish here.)

If so, what steps did you use to correct the character problems?

Thanks.

v67A
Tried a few sites:
  • Clipping this site & donationcoder is fine
  • Clipping French (Wikipedia) is gibberish

All my HTML pane content now contains unexpected chars. (The character set doesn't seem to be... set correctly...?)
The way out is probably simple, but, I don't know what it is (without spending hours on it...)

I'm on v66.

EDIT : not talking about MHT stuff (MHT files loaded in IQ), but stuff clipped as HTML, or personal notes taken in the  pane. Almost all of it contains gibberish. Hope it's reversible

V59 works fine. Haven't tested all others since they all have various issues  &  I already lost more than 1h trying to figure out how to solve the problem. Seems like it has to do with how the HTML pane deals with char sets. Even in V66 (not talking about 67)

Can I confirm that I also have a problem with unexpected characters in the HTML pane in version 66? I have not tried version 67, which I shall avoid!

I've got this issue mostly fixed. I'll be doing tests to make sure it works well and release a version, tomorrow most likely.
I'll also add a command to restore accented characters when these were corrupted. As much as possible, do not edit content with corrupted accented characters until the next version is released
