Hi IQ Users,

In this release (v0.9.78):
  • New: Grid: Outline Styles. Can now define named outlining styles. Supports font (face, size, bold, etc), text foreground and background color.
Any item can be used as an outline style,, simply check field OutlineStyles. Can turn On / Off and quickly switch between different styles. Option to override item formatting.
    Details here: 3. Outline Styles
  • New: Grid: Columns > Column Sets menu. Column sets come from forms and grids
  • New: Properties Pane: In the All fields section, a hyperlink is now shown if a field and grid share the same name. Click the link to open the grid.
(In waiting for a proper tree view of grids, users can use this to have a hierarchy of clickable links to grids)
  • New: Properties Pane: Can now drag drop items from the Properties pane to grids and the Calendar (to create event). Items are shown in sections Parents, Siblings, Children and Marked items
  • New: Properties Pane: "Show in scratch grid" (menu or double-click) now shows the field values immediately to the right of the tree column
  • New: HTML Pane: When selected text is a valid URL, Insert > Hyperlink now creates the hyperlink without showing the UI
  • New: HTML Pane: Highlight text now toggles back color
  • New: Live-search: Show "orphan" items. This will return the list of items that have only 1 text value and no parents
  • New: New Item dialog: When selecting fields and Wikitags, double-click select / unselect item and close the dropdown selector
  • New: Field manager window is no longer modal. Makes adding fields easier
  • New: Field manager: Can now drag-drop a field to a grid
  • Fixed: Grid: Hyperlink command was enabled for non-text fields
  • Fixed: Gantt: For a milestone, setting a duration does not show a task bar
  • Fixed: Gantt: Changing a task duration using the grid did not work (it only worked by dragging the bar). Supports non-working days
  • Fixed: HTML Pane: Hyperlinks containing the @ symbol were confused with email address causing links to not work
  • Fixed: HTML Pane: Highlighting text disables HTML pane links
  • Fixed: Home Page: Links to grids with an ' in the name did not work
  • Fixed: Form Manager: list of fields dropdown was not sorted correctly
  • Fixed: Field names containing an apostrophe ( ' ) were sometimes an issue
  • Fixed: Hyperlink dialog: Press Esc enters Marked items in the link destination
[Edit]
Version was updated to v0.9.78a to fix these issues:
  • Fixed: Drag-drop from the Field management dialog to the Properties pane did not work
  • Fixed: Lock up on showing the Properties pane when pane is in auto-hide mode
  • Fixed: Properties pane: When no item was selected (multiple views), pane still showed previous item information
  • Fixed: Fast Search: Navigation with cursor keys was difficult when the HTML pane is open, as focus always went back to that pane
  • Fixed: Fast Search: Many keyboard shortcuts were not enabled (namely F4 and F12)
[/Edit]

[Edit]
Version was updated to v0.9.78b to fix these issues:
  • Change: Sample IQBase updated with Styles grid and sample styles
  • Fixed: HTML Pane: Closing IQ did not auto-save the content
  • Fixed: Properties pane: Fields that are the same name as grids containing "Img" tags did not have correct links
  • Fixed: Home Page: User home pages now have an "edit" button, which switches focus to that item in the HTML pane. Press F5 to refresh home page after edits
  • Fixed: Form Manager: Issue with adding a field with '
[/Edit]

Lots to explore in this release ! And as usual, 90 free days of use.

i second that

I was trying out the new non-modal field properties dialog.

Tried dragging a field from the Field Properties dialog to the All Fields section of the Properties pane.  I was hoping that the dropped field would become a child field of the field I dropped it on, but that didn't work.  Such a feature might make it easier to assign the "Parent Field" to fields.

Can you elaborate on this one?  I'm seeing items show up with many different values, for instance items with text pop-up values, items with a URL field entered etc.  Should such items be showing up?  I can provide more info as needed.

Do these items have only 1 text value and no parents ? If yes, and you don't consider them "orphans", help me better define "orphans"

See my attachment as an example, this is an item that came back as an orphan.  It has (2) pop-up text values. Based on your description "items that only have one text value", I assumed you meant an orphan item would only have the field "item text", and no other values at all other than default values such as date created and so forth.  But the item in my attachment, at least by my definition, has (3) text values.

So based on your definition and intention, should items like that being showing up?

I am purposely avoiding defining an orphan - first I want to know whether I'm even on the same page.

Strange... it is working fine here
Is this just an exception or are they many items with more than 1 text field showing up as "orphans" ?
Are all items showing up as "orphans" ?

I haven't tried with a sample DB, but with my own DB I can't open the properties pane. IQ just freezes -- maybe I've got too many fields for v78. :)

Hi Armando,

I was not able to reproduce the issue. Can you provide the steps you take ?

Well this is embarrassing.  I'm sorry Pierre, I had forgotten that I had created my own custom grid titled orphans with filter criteria that was meant to help me find most of my orphans.  So I was typing "orphans" in the omnibox and selecting the "view" that was in actuality my grid!

That being the case, how am I actually supposed to use this feature?  I've typed in various things into the omnibox but don't see any orphan commands am not sure how I'm supposed to initiate this search.  I purposely created an orphan that should meet the criteria to see if I could find it.

LOL !

Open the Fast Search (Edit > Find) and click on the ?? button, next to marked items. This will show the list
p.s. If anyone wants to suggest an icon for "orphans", chip in... I was not inspired, hence the ?? on the button

I just tried the outline styles feature and it seems to work really well!

I find the implementation ingenious (through the OutlineStyle/Style grid) as it minimizes the creation of extra interfaces, dialogs, etc.

One thing that would make it more intuitive (currently it's not really possible to use the feature without the documentation), and you probably thought about it already,  is to automatically create the grid when the feature is first used. And the grid could contain a paragraph explaining how to create a style + a hyperlink redirecting the user to the relevant help section.

P.S. The properties pane problem mentioned above is effectively fixed!

As far as I am concerned, yes.  One of my large grids opens and refreshes slower than usual, but I can easily live with it  Rarely when trying to print, there is an error message that the printer driver has stopped working. For a while I thought it was a problem with the driver and would reboot my computer. It worked, but I subsequently linked the problem to IQ. How? Well, the driver that stopped working was still running fine for all other programs and re-starting IQ resolved the problem each time.

Enjoy your time off Pierre.
