Will InfoCube Run on Windows 2000?

Submitted by Anonymous on 2009/03/16 11:06
There is already a related thread on this general topic, but it appears to have gone dead.  I hope it is not bad form to start a fresh thread with a new Topic title.

I am running Windows 2000 with SP4.  Although I have tested early versions of InfoCube (SQLNotes), I am unable to install your latest release.  I get the error  "RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5."  Others have reported this same problem.  Apparently, the supplier of the relevant code was to be contacted about a potential resolution.  But I have not learned of any remedy or workaround.  I would like to stay current with the development of InfoCube, as I really need a 21st-century replacement for ECCO, on which I depend heavily.

Any ideas on a workaround would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

What's wrong w this filter?

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/03/13 08:26
((Pndg) or (FoloUp) or  (DateDue <int(now)+30)) and DateDone is null

It's supposed to mean:

1. all items w pending boolean = yes
2. all items w foloup boolean = yes
3. all items w assigned DateDue starting from today & going forward for the next 30 days and do not have DateDone assigned to them (i.e. are not completed or are still open)

I tried this using combo of regular filter + date filter but I couldn't make that work as it seemed date filter over rides source & plain filter

Thanks

File links: queries and plans for future (mine and IQ's!)

Submitted by Tom on 2009/03/12 13:13
thought I'd start a thread about
  • file links
  • situation when the linked files are moved
  • relative paths
  • plan for the future related to this topic
reason being I'm in the situation where I have to (or think it's best to) reorganise files and folders due to a major restructuring of a job (the details arent important really)
so I have to make a decision about how I proceed.

1.   if links are broken by, say, moving a folder, is there a method of changing/correcting links en masse

General question about how database works

Submitted by jsolka on 2009/03/11 11:35
I was just wondering where items are "really" stored, and in what format (.xml)? I realize that this might be a totally stupid question, but maybe you understand what I mean -- it's  probably about so called back-end, maybe?
This would help me to understand more about software in general and IQ in particular.
Thanks,
Jay

Two simple non-techie suggestions to make IQ more user friendly

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/03/11 11:15
Pierre,

1. give tab in focus a color besides bold (user selected color)
2. Each area of IQ where user manipulates data require a particular format so I think it would be helpful to have a user tip to pop up like

Enter source as [field] and/or [field]
or
Enter filter as fieldname null or formula (fieldname > int(today) and fieldname <+7)

Well, I'm sure you get the idea I'm getting at.
Or it could also refer to a help page or both

Copying items

Submitted by jsolka on 2009/03/11 09:52
I know I asked that question before, but still can't work it the way I'd like to.
This is the problem: I want to copy item in the same grid (with all formats, subitems, etc) in some simple way. I want this copied item to go just below the item that was copied (the original item). Sometimes I need to do it several times -- that's the easiest way for me to work my Proposals grid, because then i can just change only very little , like one cell and I have it all nice and running.

deslect by formula

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/03/11 08:33
Situation:

Item w pending (boolean) & datedone (date) columns

equation for pending changes background color
boolean = yes, color background
boolean = no, remove color background

equation for datedone changes foreground (font) color
date added= font color changes
date removed = new font color removed, ie. revert to default

However, these are not combined, i.e.
When I right click check mark or <CTRL>+M, I'd like pending background removed + pending check mark to go away + font color change to take effect

I'm assuming I have to combine A or B or C commands in DateDue but don't know syntax
How do I do this?
Thanks.
