Plans for version 1 ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/03/21 16:00
If I'm not mistaken, IQ has been in Version 0.9.24 and now Version 0.9.25 pre-release for more than a year... Yes, time flies. :)

Maybe am I mistaken, but I thought V.1 was supposed to happen sometimes this year ? Unless version numbers don't follow any particular system (explaining the beta numbering scheme), V1 now seem unlikely, at least in 2010.

Questions :

1- Is there a road map with some kind of time frame somewhere ? ( Mantis doesn't give any time frame. There were a few post, a while ago -- like : -- link to nonexistent node ID 243 -- -- , but still no time frame for v1.)

2- When is v1 (stable) supposed to be released ?

What about a real "stable" beta version ?

IQ is great, we all know it here. But I sometimes wish I could use it more as a user and less as a beta tester (2.5 years).

Suggestion : could at least one  stable IQ version 1- without any showstoppers  (all the serious bugs squashed -- bugs with no practical workarounds) 2- and no new features added... be offered to beta testers ?

(bugs with workarounds taking minimum 15-20 min a day are absolutely not practical... E.g. : row calculations problems)

Still problems with rows and columns calculations

Submitted by Armando on 2010/03/21 14:35
Steps were mentioned on the phone 12-13 days ago. Urgency isn't updated as it should when task is done. It's most probably row/column calc problem.

Of course, this affects many other row calculations.

This was mentioned there too (other users and myself) :

It would be nice to have a fix as the workaround is far from ideal (i.e. : full DB recalc.... Until there's another calculation prob.... Which means, in my case, min 10 full recalc a day which take between 2 & 7 min each : super time consuming -- I'm giving these details as I'm not sure if the "harshness" is obvious enough).

I think that these types of bugs shouldn't stay unfixed for such long periods.

<SOLVED> Hierarchy 'Quirks'

Here's three screenshots from a grid

Source:  BillingNo
Filter:    BillingNo ="226"
Context Parents is ON in all examples
TLI's here are all context parents

As you can see from the first screenshot it's the 'Drawing' items that meet source & filter
My confusion is with the 3rd shot but show the other two examples for clarity (hopefully!)

Further details beneath each shot . .

Selective HTML export

I'm not having any luck getting the selective HTML export (Mantis 124) working on HTML content.

I select text in the HTMl pane, and enclose some of it with {private} using the  html pane menu>edit>enclose text with

Then on the main menu, Grid>Export to a web page and put {private} in the "Hide tags:" section.

I Save and Preview, but the text still shows in the browser.  What am I doing incorrectly?

A couple of suggestions concerning the forum

Sometimes it's necessary to pass an IQBase back to Pierre so that he can take a look at it. That can be done by email, but email is not a healthy way to pass around large files!

But also: the development of this IQ community could also be much enhanced by users publishing (sanitised versions of) IQBases which work well for a given application.

automatic calculations in fields

Submitted by woodworker on 2010/03/17 20:58
I have fields which contain parent and child calculations. In other words, a row may  contain a parent field which should summarize the rows of child fields which are directly below. I have found that this calculation often disappears. I cannot make it reappear unless I go to the field under "field manager" and click the "recalculate  parent and child calculations". This is darned inconvenient and also a bit transient, since the calculation often disappears when I recalculate another field. I'm assuming that I'm missing something. Can anyone help me. I'm trying to set up estimates for my business and this is a show-stopper.
