multiple windows of one grid in dualpane confuse cycling through grids

Submitted by Tom on 2010/03/10 08:17

multiple windows of one grid in dualpane display confuse cycling through grids using shortcut keys - if the second instance of grid is in second pane it gets ignored (mostly - see one exception below)

Dual pane

Open 2 windows of the one grid
Push one over to new vertical tab group
<|> designates new pane below

| GridA | GridB | GridC |<|>| GridA | GridC | GridF

use Ctrl+PgeUp or PgeDn to cycle through the tabs (I think those are the default keys) - in the example above it ignores Grids A & C (second instances) on the right

~ I tried it with just two windows of the one grid (one in each 'pane') - it went to second window but wouldnt go back or forwards then and then IQ crashed (reproducible except for the crash)

html doesn't always display w it's item

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/03/09 12:54
Yesterday I created an item & took notes in HTML pane
I closed IQ between yesterday & today
Today I opened IQ
I focused on that same item & the HTML did not display the data
Rather than panic thinking I had lost all my notes, I clicked around, focusing on other items within the same grid.
I then returned to the original item, clicked on it & the data in the HTML pane appeared

This wouldn't be the first time this has happened.
Using the latest IQ build as of 09 Mar 10

changing field order w drag / drop not precise

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/03/08 12:51
View -> Manage Forms
Open any form
Left click & hold any field
Drag up or down & drop (as needed) where line between item appears
Item will not drop where line appears as expected
If user goes slightly beyond that point (when insert line disappears) & drops, item seems to drop correctly

Altho this works once user knows trick I think this:
1. is confusing
2. frequently causes extra work to place field where user wants it

Manage Form - field delete proceedure

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/03/08 12:45
View -> Manage Form
Select any form
Right click on field name
Mini window #1 opens = field / OK
Click OK
Mini window #1 closes & mini window #2 opens = delete
Click delete = field deleted

Note: Altho this accomplishes the task, I find it
1. Awkward
2. Dangerous (if user doesn't know to <ESC> field will be deleted

create new item by form - pop out window

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/03/08 12:39
Would like to be able to do the following:

From Forms, create a new item (or sub-item)
When this selection is made
A small pop out window (like small calendar) would appear allowing user to enter data in mini form.
Also similar to <SHFT><F2>

0.9.25Pre-Rel18, can't load Feb 16 "Latest Build" overwrite file

Submitted by d bartlett on 2010/03/08 10:25
Last week I updated from Pre-Release 13 to 18.  I've now noticed that 18 doesn't seem to "hold" a Strikethrough format because I can apply it but after closing and reopening the file the Strikethrough is MIA.  So I tried loading the Feb 16 "Latest Build" which we are advised to overwrite on the 0.9.25Pre-Rel18 install, thinking this might address the issue, but I can't load it, I continually get the ERROR MESSAGE, "Cannot load language file. Aborting".

My Question is:  What is the trick for loading the "Latest Build" overwrite file, and once accomplished does that address the issue of the disappearing Strikethrough format ???

thanks
Doug

Bonsai import

Submitted by reesd on 2010/03/07 22:18
I am able to import the text outline from Bonsai if I export from Bonsai using the attached Bonsai export template. Right now it only handles text (because that is lowest common denominator for OPML).

To use it, unzip the OXT file into "C:\Program Files\Natara\Bonsai".

Pierre, If you can post an URp example with things like dates and priorities that works with IQ, then I might be able to expand the Bonsai export template to cover those items as well

Thanks,
dave

PS, The initial code for this simple Bonsai export template came from dbenjamin (http://www.outlinersoftware.com/archives/viewt/1009/0/opml-export-templ…).

What is an outliner ? : Summary of a Google Wave discussion

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2010/03/06 19:22

A few months ago, a dozen or so regulars from OutlinerSoftware had this discussion on Google Wave. Unfortunately, Wave does not have any kind of print/export feature, so here is a copy of the first blip (which served as a summary). Those interested can participate in this wave.

What is an outliner ? (or what are outliners ?)

1-pane, 2-pane, 3-pane, with or without custom fields displayed or not as columns, as pure outliners or as full-featured PIM... a first wave on outliners.

Outliner types are:
