Tags-related bugs

Submitted by Tom on 2019/10/29 16:04
1.) Tags same-name warning seems to ignore symbols

I have four tags indicating page size:
  1. >A4
  2. A4
  3. A3
  4. A3+
Numbers 2, 3, and 4 have the warning exclamation mark indicating that tags have the same name.

EDIT// unable to reproduce this in Sample file -- changed to a field with pop-up list anyways, more suitable.
(Bug below still relevant!)

ecco import - some characters don't get imported or displayed as they should ("", <>)

Submitted by jimspoon on 2019/10/28 15:29
(1)  Double-quotes aren't imported from Ecco item text to the Infoqube Item field.  For example, the Ecco line "Each "headline", together with its associated "category assignments," is like a "record" in the database" - all the double quotes were lost in Infoqube.

(2) I imported some lines discussing HTML tags <IMG> and <A> tags.  In Infoqube, these don't display as plain text as they do in Ecco.  Infoqube imports them literally and then displays them according to its rules for displaying HTML text.

These might prove to be issues for some folks migrating from Ecco, or for long-time Infoqube users like me who occasionally need to import an old Ecco file.

Sticky Tags

Suggestion:  allow certain tags to be locked at the top of the screen so they're always visible (similar to how columns can be locked in place).

I have a handful of tags that I use constantly.  It would be a time-saver if I could have them always in view.

I thought about giving them a "_" prefix so they sort to the top but that doesn't help much because they disappear when you search for another tag.  By the time you clear the search and navigate back to the top, you really haven't saved any time.

Of course, when you do this you'll be eating up vertical screen space but users can decide what makes sense for them.

I keep thinking there may be a way to do this presently but I haven't figured it out.

Can't copy tags

Submitted by WayneK on 2019/10/27 11:57
I can no longer copy a tag directly from the grid tag column and paste it in the same column for a different item.

Has this functionality been removed?

I miss having this because it's a lot quicker than returning to the tag pane to retrieve a tag for assignment.

Search Navigation Problem

Submitted by WayneK on 2019/10/26 12:26
From the manual: "In the Shown In column, each grid name is a hyperlink. Click on the hyperlink to open the grid and move focus to the corresponding item."

When I try the above, I get this:

1) Link does take me to the grid item, but it's hoisted.  Is this by design?  Seems like it should just go to the item in the grid, unhoisted.
2) When item is unhoisted, the selection is lost, and moves to the top item in the grid.
3) Applying column filter to find the lost item fails to find it.
4) When column filter is turned off, manual sort is lost.

Summary:
1) Cannot use Live Search link to navigate to search result
2) Column filter scrambles manual sort.

word / line wrapping for calendar events

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/10/25 17:44
Pierre, could you make it so wrapping occurs inside words for single-line calendar events?

To make myself plain, say, I have my calendar open in 7-day view and the width per day allows just over characters to be visible per line. For All-day (and Unscheduled?) events, only one line is displayed, which can make things difficult.

Say, I have birthday entries for three Sebastians entered as all-day events. With line-wrapping as it is, all three will display only 'Sebastian', the surname is broken into the next line (which is hidden). If it could be done, It would be rather helpful if (at least for events that only show one line of text) instead they showed Sebastian Mil / Sebastian Smi etc. as that first line.

Tag captions

Point me in the right direction if you can already do this.

Field dialogue has option: "Caption in grids".  Allows you to display a shortened version of the full field name.

I'd like the same capability for tags.

Example: I have a tag for items that have a graphic.  I can never remember if I refer to these as figures, graphs, charts, illustrations etc.

The solution to jog my memory is to incorporate several of these in the tag name so I can find it in the search box: FigureChartGraph.

This works well for finding the tag but I don't want something that big in the Tags column grid.  I'd like it to display just "Fig".
