Grandview 2.0 is nifty

Submitted by KeithB on 2019/10/12 13:56
I thought I'd pass this info on, since I'm having so much fun with this 1990 program
This link has how to get Grandview version 2.0, already already setup with vDos-lfn, which runs great in windows 10. All the hard setup work is already done.

I ran across the phrase "best program ever" quite a few times on the web, so my interest was piqued about Grandview.

A scanned manual is available.
I'm using it as a staging area/scratchpad before entering stuff in IQ. It bring back memories of just how fast programs ran in the DOS world.

Orphanizing drag to other grid bug

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/10/10 05:04
When I create a new item and drag /drop it back and forth from one grid to another, at some point it turns blue and is left without any values showing in the properties pane. It will disappear on refreshing the grid and can now only be found through (orphan) search. Sometimes it happens on the first drag, sometimes maybe on the fourth or fifth attempt, but it does happen reliable here on Version 0.9.114f.

Leap day (?) bug

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/10/08 11:49
A nasty one!

To reproduce, go to Horizontal scroll mode and create an all-day event on, say, 28 Feb 2020. Edit the event, make it last to, say, 28 March 2020. For me, this already causes IQ to slow down, but that may be subjective. After the change, scroll around a bit, again, for me it's quite sluggish. Re-open the event details dialog and try to change item duration back to one day, so set the second date for the All-day event to 28 Feb 2020 also and okay / save. IQ refuses to do this, the item will keep its duration (try scrolling). Re-opening the event details dialog will confirm the change has failed. To fix, I could only delete the item or change the starting date to 27 Feb 2020. As this didn't happen when I tried the same for Feb 2019, I'm guessing it has something to do with the leap day?

Many thanks!

Properties pane vs. performance?

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/10/07 14:57
Just now I performed a paste of some fifty items from the clipboard and noticed that the properties pane was updated several times while the items were added to the grid. This made me wonder whether IQ's refreshing of the properties pane had any significant influence on IQ's overall performance and whether some functions could be optimized by skipping or delaying updates to the pane? Just a thought, I realize that performance issues have been discussed and addressed here several times before. Thanks!

Jump directly to an item's representation in the calendar

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/10/07 11:42
Leftie is back from holiday, so here goes:

Say you want to change the recurrence pattern of the item currently selected in the grid. Wouldn't it be nice to have a command to jump directly to that item's representation in the calendar? I assume the only method to do this currently is to manually locate the event through the calendar UI?

Also / alternatively, is there a way to directly open the 'Event details' dialog for a grid item that is entered in the calendar?

Many thanks!

Column location option

Submitted by WayneK on 2019/10/06 17:25
Is there a way to designate where columns are added?  If yes, ignore this suggestion.

Columns are added at the far right of the grid.  Most of the time I want the column at the far left.  That means the tedious moving all the way across the screen one step at a time across 20-30 columns.  It can get annoying if you often want to add a column to do a quick check of field assignments.

Suggestions in descending order of preference:

1) Always add column to left or right of selected column (or above/below the selected column in the add column dialogue).

2) Allow columns to be dragged/moved in the same way as selected cells:
last column>move right =  first column
first column>move left = last column

3) Option to set location of new columns to first or last position

Add Custom StyleSheet to Markdown Document

Submitted by josh on 2019/10/04 08:33
 Hello,

When I copied and edited the default style sheet and added it to the default style sheet in the options for the Document Pane, it doesn't appear to be applying to the Browse Mode of the Markdown document. When I am in the Doc Pane, and Go to Menu > Edit > Edit Style Sheet, the sheet that comes up is my custom sheet, but the changes I make are not taking effect. For testing I made a H3 30 pt font, and it didn't change at all. I've restarted InfoQube and refreshed the grids, but it doesn't update.

Doe Style Sheets not apply to Markdown documents? Or is there another setting I am missing?

Update: The style sheet is working for the HTML docs, just not Markdown previewed docs.

Cheers,
Josh
