Address Book problem

Submitted by Al on 2009/11/30 22:31
Until the calendar introduction, I haven't had t use the AdrsBook before. When I open the AdrsBook grid I get the error message "Error opening grid. Check grid source criteria.' I was able to enter names after clicking okay, but in closing and reopening the grid the names disappeared. I selected all items in the source box and didn't get any entries. Just the error message again.

Couldn't find anything explaining the AdrsBook how is the time line to the right of the address book entries used?

Can the opened grids be placed along the bottom of IQ? Couldn't find a preference for it.

Thanks
Al

Printing Challenges

Submitted by d bartlett on 2009/11/30 18:13
Hi,
D Bartlett here on the blog forum (hopefully this does show up) for the first time.  ECCO user since it's beginnings in the 1990's, discovered IQ this summer and switched to it from ECCO totally and completely this past Aug.  Great program, I'm sure I'll be continually learning more about it's power and possibilities for a long time yet, BUT - MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE IS PRINTING.  I am accustomed to sending a file to print, from within whatever program, and it prints - it isn't that straightfoward for me in IQ.

This morning for instance, trying to print a screen-width hoisted-item grid-c/w-gantt-chart on 1 landscape-oriented legal-size page . . . with WYSIWYG the best I could ever achieve was a 2-page print out (which presentation-wise did not work for me), I could not figure out a way to instruct the print program to output to one single page . . .

Version 0.9.25 is coming...

Well, it was first promised 2 years ago and it took 1 year to complete, but the first IQ version with a fully functional Calendar*  is just around the corner.

Release (of this 0.9.25Pre-rel1 version) will be in a few days, but for those that just can't wait for me updating Mantis, and doing some final checks, you can get a peek here:

(handle with care, this is a major rework)

Cheers

Ability to sort TLIs *including Context parents* via sortbox ?

Submitted by Tom on 2009/11/27 05:53

Say a grid shows some TLI's that meet the source and some which are context parents

1) If I use the sortbox & sort by item, it sorts items that meet the filter only
2) If I use the sortbar (not the sortbox!) & sort by item, it will sort by the TLI's regardless of whether they are Context parents or not

It's helpful to have both options but I'm just wondering,
is it possible to do (#2) via the sortbox?

(I suspect not, but I guess when saved sorting comes it wont matter!)

Infoqube in the cloud

Submitted by gregory on 2009/11/25 00:03
Some while ago, there was discussion about making InfoQube available as cloud-based Software as a Service SaaS. This could, for example, be used to "showcase" IQ.

I would like to host an IQbase in a web-accessible format as part of my research work.

How difficult is this to achieve? Is significant development work needed?

Print Preview Settings

Submitted by Al on 2009/11/24 13:00
I know somewhere in Mantis there is a very robust list of features for printing capabilites. If it is a simple thing to do, what would be helpful to me is the abiltiy to save the margin settings in the Print Preview setup dialog box on exit from IQ. If I enter .25 for margins, IQ will remember those settings next time I open IQ.
