Inconsistent approach to sorting

Submitted by Jon on 2011/02/18 16:08
So I want to sort alphabetically by  item. I want the sort to stick every time I open the grid. I open the sourcebar and type in the field I want sorted. Alternatively, I can do this through manage grids, right?

1. The items are sorted correctly provided nothing in the list has an attribute tag (for example <b>). This destroys the sort. However...

2. If I use the sortbar, the attribute tags are ignored and the column is sorted correctly. This is the expected behavior and should be consistent throughout the program.

Unless I am missing something.

Item "Hover box" information for blank item shows other data

Submitted by PIMfan on 2011/02/17 16:48
When hovering over a blank item in a list, I noticed that the hover "information box" showed the data for the item above the blank one the cursor is over....

  1. The info box should indicate N/A for the Item when a the cursor is over a blank item.....
  2. Also, I noticed imported items do not have values for "modified" or "by", even though manually created ones do....Is this a bug also?

Import row count errors and import location point comment.....

Submitted by PIMfan on 2011/02/17 16:14
I was working with the import functionality today to bring a small Excel list into IQ, and have a couple of minor changes to suggest:

  1. Import Location - When starting the import process, I first selected the item in my grid where I wanted the items imported.  I noticed that IQ always imported below the item I selected.  Most other applications I've ever worked with import into the selection point, not below it.  Suggestion:  modify import behavior to import at the item currently selected.
  2. Header row and row count - On import step 1, I pasted in 15 excel items, and selected the "First row contains field names" option and clicked Next.  On step 2, it properly showed the first row of my data as the field name, but then left a blank extra entry at the bottom (see item #15 in the screenshot).  A lit

How to make viewing multi-line items in grids always show all of the item like Ecco Pro

Submitted by ranonf171 on 2011/02/17 10:42
In Ecco Pro, if an item exceeds the column width, it word wraps and all words are visible regardless of whether you select or view that particular item.

I've checked the manual, options, searched through the messages (perhaps missed the answer), but I would like to see my grids/outlines with all of the text while reading.  I don't want to have to individually select each item just to read the text.

Perhaps there is something in columns options that I missed.

While I'm on the topic, is there a way for the icons/bullets to appear at the top instead of the middle of an item?

I want to really like IQ...

Maybe it is the extended beta period, but I have a love/hate relationship with this program. While I realize it is still in development, I want to use it to  get WORK done, but I can't. There are still too many issues, and stability is less than ideal, so depending on IQ for my work is out of the question. I use it side by side with Ecco and Ultra Recall. Why?
