Well, it has taken quite some time, but version 0.9.24 is finally released. Many important new features and bug fixes are included.
So much so, that it is expected that an update will follow in a few days, as users find new bugs introduced. So... while you can be assured that there are no critical bugs, users are encouraged to keep the previous version installed and install the new portable version in a different folder. So that, if a bug is really annoying, you can use the previous version and keep being productive with IQ. I know some of you depend on IQ, so I'll be ready to address all reported issues (if any).
Mantis list and documents all changes. Since the last pre-release, these are the main items:
- Add grid navigation and item creation / editing directly in the HTML pane
- Automatically delete timestamped auto-backups
- Calendar: changing a property value is not saved
- Change all references from the old name (SQLNotes) to the new name, InfoQube
- Crash when using "enter" in properties pane.
- Drop-down combo box bug
- EmailDate field does not sort correctly
- Gantt: Scale not saved
- Hyperlink display on mouse move
- Hyperlink to a filtered out item does not work
- Hyperlink to FileFullPath and URL
- Hyperlinks in the HTML panes
- Improved email parsing and Send to multiple emails
- Install erases NewHTML.HTM and other user files
- IQ doesnt show in Alt+TAB if Options is open
- Shortcut to move focus to grid, Shortcut to zoom
- Show item font in the fast search list
- Some item properties have incorrect alignment
- UI when dropping files
- VBScript does not handle multi-line items and double-quotes
- When opening Quick Search window : show empty "grid"
- Zoom In and Zoom Out in the grid and HTML pane
Coming this week is URp and OPML/OML import. The good news is that URp import will support RTF import into the HTML pane!
Due to the name change (from SQLNotes.exe to InfoQube.exe), many changes were required. Users must uninstall the Firefox and Thunderbird extensions and install the new ones.
Comments
- The improved drag-drop is GREAT. Thanks. the visual cues are really user friendly.
- The universal clipper is very convenient. It saves time. Beautiful.
- The UI improvements when dropping files is a great addition too.
- I like the new add item functionalities (although I do have some reservation about having to access the properties pane separately to access all the extra fields -- it slows down the process quite a bit, especially if the properties pane is not visible ; I never leave it open as it slows down item navigation to a crawl... maybe would it be different if it was not such a performance hog)
There are other performance issues related to complex filters and sources which I spoke about in the past. I live with it, but sometimes it's a bit too much : one of my grid more than 4 min to open or refresh ( I could time it if you want)... and it's not because it's large.
