Well, it has taken quite some time, but version 0.9.24 is finally released. Many important new features and bug fixes are included.

So much so, that it is expected that an update will follow in a few days, as users find new bugs introduced. So... while you can be assured that there are no critical bugs, users are encouraged to keep the previous version installed and install the new portable version in a different folder. So that, if a bug is really annoying, you can use the previous version and keep being productive with IQ. I know some of you depend on IQ, so I'll be ready to address all reported issues (if any).

Mantis list and documents all changes. Since the last pre-release, these are the main items:
  1. Add grid navigation and item creation / editing directly in the HTML pane
  2. Automatically delete timestamped auto-backups
  3. Calendar: changing a property value is not saved
  4. Change all references from the old name (SQLNotes) to the new name, InfoQube
  5. Crash when using "enter" in properties pane.
  6. Drop-down combo box bug
  7. EmailDate field does not sort correctly
  8. Gantt: Scale not saved
  9. Hyperlink display on mouse move
  10. Hyperlink to a filtered out item does not work
  11. Hyperlink to FileFullPath and URL
  12. Hyperlinks in the HTML panes
  13. Improved email parsing and Send to multiple emails
  14. Install erases NewHTML.HTM and other user files
  15. IQ doesnt show in Alt+TAB if Options is open
  16. Shortcut to move focus to grid, Shortcut to zoom
  17. Show item font in the fast search list
  18. Some item properties have incorrect alignment
  19. UI when dropping files
  20. VBScript does not handle multi-line items and double-quotes
  21. When opening Quick Search window : show empty "grid"
  22. Zoom In and Zoom Out in the grid and HTML pane
Coming this week is URp and OPML/OML import. The good news is that URp import will support RTF import into the HTML pane!

Due to the name change (from SQLNotes.exe to InfoQube.exe), many changes were required. Users must uninstall the Firefox and Thunderbird extensions and install the new ones.

Woohoo! That was a long time between drinks. Good to see the progress continues. Clean portable install & all appears good so far.

Thanks.
Phil

thanks 4 all your work pierre. very exciting & can't wait to import (get out from under URp). Only question I have is where to get new FF extensions. Jan Rifkinson On the Road w 9.24

They are in the portable zip file

Congrats Pierre!

With the name change and all, any recommendations on how best to replace the older version? Different applications seem to have different preferences on this.  Should I just wipe the old folder and install over?  Install into a new folder and change shortcuts?  How do I move any data references and preferences?  Can, in fact, these be moved between versions?

Sorry if these questions are obvious and tiresome for the veterans of such changes.  I'm relatively new to IQ.

Thanks.

Simply put the zip content into a new folder (you can also copy it to an existing folder)

If you copied it to a new folder, to retrieved your settings and user code, copy the content under the older version's User folder to the new. You may need to reset some toolbars to see the new buttons (zoom in/out)

For the record - I copied it into my current portable install (after backing that up) and then I deleted the couple of files that had SQLNotes in the name.
Works fine.
Just to double stress it I then changed the name of the containing folder from SQLNotes to InfoQube
Still working  fine

[Edit] - BTW, forgot to say: Many thanks Pierre !!

Excellent work, it sure is the most unique info manager out there and its shaping up really well! I must admit I don't use it as my main PIM yet but it's getting close. cheers

Excellent work.

Is the "NewHTML.htm" (in the ...\AppFiles\ folder) elsewhere now ?
If not maybe users should also be advised to copy/paste the file from the old to the new folder (that is : if they want to preserve their settings -- fonts, etc. -- when a new Html note is created in the html pane).

Yes, the newHTML and newMHT are now in the user folder. The system provided one is in AppFiles.

Before installing, it is best to backup these files somewhere and copy it back to the user/yourname folder.

From now on, these will not be overwritten.

Version 0.9.24A is out which fixes the FF and TB clipper problem. Also notable are:
  • Main toolbars:
    • Standard toolbar contains only common command
    • New Advanced toolbar contains more esoteric stuff
    • Simplified item context menu
  • HTML pane toolbars:
    • Standard and Format toolbars in-line with those of MS Word
    • Simplified context menu
    • Item toolbar now distinct from the URL toolbar
    • When locked on an item (View>>Lock item), the item toolbar buttons are now disabled, except for the item text
Also, it is now possible to toggle between traditional and 2-D context menus (Tool>>Options>>1.1.3)

[edit] You must uninstall the FF and TB extensions and install the new one (included in the IQ portable zip file)

Version 0.9.24B is now available (download it here).

Changes requested by users in the last few days have been incorporated.

Also, the 0.9.24 proves to be very stable, so all users are now encouraged to upgrade.

Changes:
  • Add option to show/hide tree lines
  • IQ disappears from Taskbar and Alt+Tab
  • Phone numbers in the HTML pane are not found
  • html pane with **MHT content** --> ctrl+c and ctrl+a don't work.
  • Add Delete Item button to the HTML pane toolbar

Version 0.9.24C will be out today (in a few hours). Included are the following:

Pierre,

My old version just expired and I installed this new release.  It now says I have .9.24 but it still keeps telling my my version has expired when I launch and won't let me make edits.  Help!!!!!

The latest is 0.9.24B and is only available as a portable app. I'll release 0.9.24C today in both portable and installable. Which flavors are you using? Checkout this page: InfoQube Program Install and Set-up for info.

My mistake, I like to use the install version and when I looked at the download page I thought you had also released a new version of that.

The installable flavor is coming in the next 30 min. So if you don't want to move your settings b/w the 2 setups, you can wait just a bit more...

Version 0.9.24C is now available in both portable and installable flavors. Download it here.

Wow, Pierre. I know you've done a lot of work on fixes & stuff but I gotta tell you the new item dialog is a wonderful thing. I don't know what else one could want in that regard.  Thanks so much for making my day easier.

Second that, the right click menu is sooo much better, thank you Pierre.  FYI, not a big deal, but when I installed I lost my IQ layout and had to reposition everything.  I also seemed to lose all my selting under tools>options.  Font setting and bullet style settings for example.

Nice work, Pierre. I just updated my portable IQ and works well.

- The improved drag-drop is GREAT. Thanks. the visual cues are really user friendly.

- The universal clipper is very convenient. It saves time. Beautiful.

- The UI improvements when dropping files is a great addition too.

- I like the new add item functionalities (although I do have some reservation about having to access the properties pane separately to access all the extra fields --  it slows down the process quite a bit, especially if the properties pane is not visible ; I never leave it open as it slows down item navigation to a crawl... maybe would it be different if it was not such a performance hog)

I'm working on this issue right now (though you must have tons of fields as it isn't slowing down my system by any means...)

>I'm working on this issue right now (though you must have tons of fields as it isn't slowing down my system by any means...)

It's not that much a System performance hog. It just slows down IQ's item navigation (same for html pane). i once suggested that the properties pane and item navigation could be managed like 2 different processes, so that the slowness of pane display wouldn't affect item navigation (it gets very choppy).

There are other performance issues related to complex filters and sources which I spoke about in the past. I live with it, but sometimes it's a bit too much : one of my grid more than 4 min to open or refresh ( I could time it if you want)... and it's not because it's large.

Here's the source :

task OR zzTask or (today or thisweek) or (duedate and zzprojets is null)

And  the filter :

(task and (project like "*tgsPRoJu*" or projectsALL like "*tgsPRoJu*") and (  ( ( Due < now + 7) or (urgency >= -7 and due is not null) or (due-now<6) or (due is null) )  AND  (done is null)  ))

Anyway, I could create another thread for that issue if you want, as this is not exactly the right place to discuss that...

Pierre,

I do not use Ecco style bulleta.  There used to be lines that descended to sort of show what level you were on.  Now those are gone.  I'm not saying I like it better the old way, but are those supposed to be gone?
