Better late than never, as goes the saying...

Pre-Rel 1 of version 0.9.25 is now available (with a quite capable Calendar). Download it here
  1. New: Can select multiple items in the Calendar and hit the Delete key to delete all of them
  2. bugfix: deleting a date in a grid does not remove it from the Calendar
  3. New: select a bunch of dates (e.g. imported appointments from Ecco) and right-click: Create event. Will create Calendar events for each
  4. Improvements: Long delay when adding some events
  5. Bugfix: New all-day event would have duration=24hrs
  6. Improvements: If Duration=0, Duration is not shown in the Calendar
  7. DateFilter: Show when using user-defined duration
  8. DateFilter: Added the > operator
  9. When adding items at the bottom of a window, item is sometimes hidden
  10. Selective "Export - [of html pane] - to Web page"

Comments

Pierre you might want to change the file date to 12/04 to avoid confusion

The calendar options dialog looks great.

1. I don't think the 'show end time' under month view does anything? I assume I should see 9:00am 10:30am on the monthly calendar? Realistically I wouldn't be using 'Show end time' much in the monthly view, because of the real estate it takes up. But there are times I do type in the end time for particular appointment, so it would be nice if I could selectively turn "show end time' on or off for a given appointment. I also would not need the last am/pm, to save real estate.

2. The 'compress weekend days' didn't seem to do anything.

3. Unchecking 'show time as clock' did not stick stick on restarting IQ.

4. What is the difference between the 'show end time' under month view and the 'show end time always' under additional options in the calendar options dialog?
Thanks
Al

  1. This is now fixed
  2. This is now fixed
  3. Yes I know. The Calendar config is not all saved right now.
  4. "Show end time" will show it if there is space for it. "Show end time always" will show it irregardless of the avail space

In general : great work ! It's nice to see IQ progressing at a steady pace.

In particular :

- Calendar Options dialog

Very nice. I like it. I personally don't need much more than that... But I'm not a heavy calendar users (don't use it for collaborative work, meetings scheduling etc).

- Grid navigation speed improvements when the Properties pane is open

This is a BIG improvement. Thanks.
CPU is a bit on the high side -- this could matter if working on battery power. At the same time, I guess users can always turn properties pane off when not using it.

- Quick search dialog : "Sync panes" doesn't work properly: fixed

Thanks !

Hi! I am a new user (I only started InfoQubing three weeks ago). I think InfoQube is great, specially after the addition of the fully functional calendar. This new feature is what has made me migrate from MLO. I have been playing with the last release and there are a couple of issues that I would like to mention: -If I try to click on the file, edit, etc menus when I have the calendar tab open and visible the dropdown menu does not stay so I cannot choose anything, the same happens if I right click on the calendar tab (eg: to close it or to create a new tab group). If any of the other grids is the one "visible" this does not happen and I can select from the dropdown menus normally. -I would like to create a keyboard shortcut for the create event function, currently this is impossible because the customize toolbar menu (Keyboard tab) does not include the create event command under the item category. It will be great if this could be solved. Thanks!

Confirmed here. But doesn't happen all the time for some reasons.

(Same thing for the ctrl-shift-o shortcut for grid menu etc. -- pointed out in another thread)

Confirmed. I'll see what can be the cause. Currently, the trick is to click again on the Calendar tab (that is, click on it a second time). Menus then work as expected.

View > Reminders Window

Also from pre-release 1,
added '>' in date filter -- I don't have this function.

Thanks.

Cool ! forget my last post... (Threaded view is sometimes confusing... I think flat view rules for forum exchanges ! At least you can't make chronological mistakes ! and you can still have threads by quoting the interlocutors... )

Humm... you won't like Google Wave then. The Google supplied UI does not support flat view.

(of course, before long, IQ will be your forum client and will support both views, in a synched split display... ... I'll complete the Calendar first...)

Pierre, Calendar options dialog is terrific. As far as I can tell it's only missing alarm options; i.e. audio alarm = y/n & select audio file as sound user wants for alarm. I'm really enjoying & using the hell out of my IQ calendar. It's wonderful the way it interfaces w grid. I'm impatient to see what other surprises you have up your sleeve. Jan Rifkinson currently on the road

Congrats, Pierre

Date on the download page is 11/6, should be 12/6.

Version 0.9.25PreRel3 is now available. 2 issues were fixed:
  1. XML Copy was broken (for TLI items)
  2. Calendar requires a second click on the tab to enable the menus

XML copy/paste is fixed. Thanks

But... I'm having problems with my clipboard enhancer... will try to see what I can do to fix that and report in case others have the same problem(s) (anybody else ?)

Other problems in this version

- Quick search problems :

1- When I search for an item, fine, the search grid appears. If I searCh for a second item, the grid isn't updated.

2- When I search for an item and auto close is not on, nothing happens. After that, even if I recheck "Auto", nothing will ever happen when I try to select items in the quick search dialog and click on "GO". Only a restart will cure it.

3- When there's something in the itemHTML field, the focus shifts to the HTML pane. User needs to click on item again to be able to browse through the list.

- "manage fields" problem

In the "manage fields" dialog, when I modify a field, the next field I'll select will become identical to the previous one I just modified (e.g. auto assign equations). (that's just a display problem, it seems, and was already reported there : Field name and properties appears duplicated in "manage fields" dialog, even if not the case . It's scary though)

[Edits : corrected a few language mistakes... And wanted to say how I love the fact that the properties pane doesn't get in the way annymore !!! it's such a relief... :) ]

In monthly view, I can usually see 'the month'  and parts of the preceding month and/or some of the next month. The label is something like November-December 2009, is it possible to also have just a 'main' month title, just December if that is the 4 weeks that are showing. Maybe it is just me, but I find myself getting confused as I move month to month, as to which month I'm at, without some study.

Pierre, two calendar items for your consideration. On my netbook, the 7 day weekly view is visible only by horizontal scroll. Nothing wrong w that per se but wonder if you think if auto adjusting columns might be an option for graphic calendar. Second: allowing user to enter date in date drop down menu field via two enter clicks instead of focus click + down arrow click to see calendar entry dialog. Thanks, Jan Rifkinson on the road

Hi Pierre

Just passing it on. I could not delete an appointment in month view. Open/closed grid, was able to delete. I couldn't repeat the problem.

Pre-Rel4 is now available. In this version:
  • Various bug fixes, including the now-famous menu flicker
  • Office links [edit] i.e. ODC links (Office Data Connection): Live Links to IQ Grids (from MSWord, Excel) -- Comments [/edit]
  • IQ always opening on main monitor
  • Slow and sometimes incorrect field calculations (in complex row and column calculations)

Just did a quick update on pre-rel4 so that a msgbox is shown when creating an Office link. It was too... silent

Office Links - I presume you mean the new odc functionality. I just found out about this.

Pierre, every now & again, you quite blow my socks off. I do a lot of office app integration, and this is an extremely usefull addition. Thanks!

Wonderful if it can be useful to you.

You can do the same (and actually a bit more) with ODBC, but it is rather more complicated to configure, etc for users. I'll add that type of link when I have some spare time (The ODC link took no more than 2 hours to implement, from start to end !)

As a bonus, ODBC works with many more apps than just Office. Details (through a practical example) here: 9. Example-Finances

Pre-Rel5 is now available.

Not much new stuff, except option to set the min calendar day width, mostly bug fixes, including the hard to get rid of menu flicker.

n.b. If you've got Pre-Rel4 installed, your can also simply use the LatestBuild package

I have the same message... with word 2003, trying to mail merge using the ODC data link. I was wondering if, maybe, it could hae to do with encryption. My DB is encrypted. But haven't analysed the problem much... yet.

Ok... Here's the problem : excel loads data fine, but I can't access it from word to do, say, a mail merge -- following your tutorial. That was the main attraction to me...

I need to enter a password etc., but it doesn't work.

Here's a little screen cast.

As you can see :

1- It either complains that there's no data
2- or, If I just test the connection it gives me an error message
