Problem with Auto-Assign rule (it used to work!)

Submitted by Tom on 2009/01/07 07:23
I havent used these fields in a long time but they worked last time used ...

Changed (YES/NO field) should change colour of item and add date to DateChanged field
-
it no longer adds the date to DateChanged field

Equation for Changed is
A:DateChanged=int(date)|E:DateChanged= |AM: ItemColor="darkblue" | E:ItemColor="yellow"

so the first bit isnt working - I notice there's no space between first & second parts [...date)|E:Date...]
so I tried adding a space there but it's still not working (even after restart)

DateChanged is a date field
Default Value  =int(now())
Equation:  yy-MM-dd

Any ideas on what might have gone wrong?

Delete multiple locked items

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/01/06 16:44
1) When I try to delete multiple locked items, there is no indication that the operation didn't work. The confirmation dialog shows up, and appears to work, but doesn't. (You dont get the ("item is locked" message like you get when deleting a single item).

2) Would it be possible to make a system field ~itemlocked, that could appear in the grid? If not, what's the easiest workaround to show all my items, as to whether they're locked or not?

[Feature:Request] when item is selected, hit return > create new item

Submitted by Tom on 2009/01/06 09:59
[Feature:Request] when an item is selected*, hitting return would create a new item

when an item is selected, pressing enter/return seems to have no effect
I think it would be logical that return would create a new item below current item with the Item field in edit mode (or the field that has the outline)
I'd certainly like to see that.

Likewise for Control+Enter

* EDIT/ to be fully clear - I mean when an item is fully selected (as in not just the item field selected)

Anyone Using IQ In a Team Setting?

Submitted by David_H on 2009/01/06 09:26
Subject says it all.  IQ is so "personal" I am having a hard time getting my head around how it could be used in a multi-user setting.  How does a team member know that someone else entered a new item that needs their attention?  Sure, you can create a field for the user but they really need a way to see brand new items easily.  I suppose a grid could be set up for that based on a time variable?  And how do you stop it from being a free for all?  Are you just using one database per project?  We tried to use OneNote in a team setting with limited success because of its unstructured nature, even though many people love it as a personal information manager.

Reorder Items Or...

Submitted by David_H on 2009/01/06 08:44
I sort most items in my grids alphabetically.  However every single time I close a grid and reopen it, it defaults to sorting by item number.  So is there either a way to renumber everything alphabetically at will, OR have a grid remember my preferred sort?

Edit: Nevermind, found it!  Sort field on the right after activating Grid>View Source Bar.

Off topic, since the forum software seems to defeat my normal right click settings, is there a built in forum spell check?  If it is one of the 35 icons above this text as I type this post, I am missing it.

My Highest Recommendation

I've glanced at this forum several times since finding InfoQube but put off posting because I'm not sure how to put into words how good this program is.  It is quite simply, the most amazing piece of software I have ever used, and I've used a lot.  With most software I am frustrated with what it can't do or how it forces me to work the way it works, with InfoQube I'm continually amazed that it can do things exactly the way user wants to.  It is in some sense the holy grail of task management and information management that has been often promised by so many over the years but never delivered.  The best way I can put it in down to earth terms is it may be the only software program on the planet that is so powerful and flexible you can truly customize it to reflect the way you work, and the way you think about information, tasks and projects.  Rather than forcing you to adopt yourself to it, which is how most software works.&nb

Losing Columns

Submitted by David_H on 2009/01/06 06:02
Anything I might unknowingly be playing with that would be causing me to lose every column in a grid?  It is happening now and then and it's a bit maddening, I have to set every single one up all over again.

Related to this, I also never seem to be able to get my columns to "stay put".  I will size them just the way I want them, and the next time I open and close the program they are all different widths again.  This seems to happen at random, not all the time.  Is there any way to lock the columns in much the same way that I can lock the Windows taskbar?  I think I have tried Grid>Save with no luck.

Lastly, on the subject of columns, when I add a new column, is there now way to avoid having to adjust every other column to get the new colum to fit?  i.e.

Activate HTML Pane Based on Content

Submitted by David_H on 2009/01/06 01:43
There is an auto-hide feature for the HTML pane.  It would be incredibly cool if when you add the feature where the HTML pane can be sized differently for different grids (which you said in another thread is on the road map) there were also some type of an option where auto-hide could also be set to automatically expand the pane when there is content in it.  In certain grids perhaps 5% of my items have HTML content and I would like to have the HTML pane hidden except when there is info there.  Not sure if my request is practical, just a thought.
