What does this error message the status bar signify?

Please explain what this error in the status bar means. Everything seems to work okay in this iqbase otherwise. Thanks.

Tree level formatting styles

Submitted by Anonymous on 2009/02/26 20:32
Hi,
I'm new to this program. This suggestion relates to the tree pane.

There is great flexibility in applying various formatting (colour, size, font etc) to items, and the formatting can be different for each item.
I like this flexibility.

However, would it be possible to also allow for an alternative approach.
The suggestion is a means of selecting for each grid whether to allow any formatting or to alternatively use presets for each level.
If presets are chosen, you should be able to specify a different preset for each level (re font, size, colour etc).
When moving items to different levels, they should automatically adopt the formatting preset for that level.

An additional suggestion would be to have a toolbar button allowing you to select which levels to display (ala microsoft's Word outliner).

InfoQube Programming Environment

Submitted by Anonymous on 2009/02/26 20:00
InfoQube looks really good. I'm trying to evaluate whether I get involved or even use your product. As a software developer, I would obviously like to know what programming language / development platform you are using?

I found a remark that the current database is JET 4.0 and that you have plans for client/server database support. For many reasons, my vote for selection of a database for initial focus / beta testing would be MySQL.

Is there an off-line version of the user manual? I feel this is rather important. When i decide to embrace a new product, I retreat to a quiet location under a coolibah tree so that I can focus on learning the product. Often I won't have an internet connection and like having a user manual or reference material that I make myself work through from top to bottom. For example, a nice big fat juicy CHM or PDF file. (Yes, I RTFM - often twice!)

How to set up a common database (hosted on the net) for group work

Submitted by Armando on 2009/02/24 18:41
-- something like the mantis synching, I guess.

What I'd like to do is to share an IQ database hosted on the net with 1 or or more co-workers. It would have to be possible to sync changes both ways : from the "client" to the "server" and from the server to the "client".

Is there a way to do that relatively "easily" ?

(I was also thinking of using a wiki, but... No hierarchies, not enough fields, etc. There might be solutions that I don't know about... If anybody has any ideas... Thanks a lot.)

Typing in field-cell produces different results in different grids

Submitted by Tom on 2009/02/24 16:16
dont know - this could be a bug

With some grids/fields, typing in a cell that has focus goes automatically to edit mode (behaviour #1)
with others, typing in a cell that has focus moves the focus to a cell that starts with whatever you've typed (i.e. search as opposed to edit mode) (behaviour #2)

Now,
I've noticed that this can vary from grid to grid with the same field -
e.g. my field "BillingNumber" has behaviour #1 in one grid and bahaviour #2 in another

Is this a grid specific setting ? (or a bug?)
could it possibly be related to the setting which dictates whether typing adds text to cell or replaces text in cell (cant for the life of me find that setting anywhere...)

portability

Pierre (or anyone) As i remember IQ is portable? Does that mean I can unzip the program onto a card along with the data file & work off that card on my laptop. Will be traveling next week, thought I'd play around. Tks.

GGParents

Submitted by Anonymous on 2009/02/20 23:23
Hi Pierre,
You've mentioned in one of my posts regarding Parents and GParents that it was possible to add a Great-GParent field.
Is this a major hassle for you or something easy for the next release?
After all Great Grand Parents are a fact of life, why not in software too :-)
Seriously, I could really use them.
I am beginning to feel more at home with SQLNotes. Quite deep, not so easy at first.

Thank you.

Formatting

When there is individual or multiple word formatting in a field such as InfoCube it looks fine until you get in that field for editing, then it looks like that.
If I have several, here and there, formatted words and tabs you are going to be a little confuse and I like to ask you if this is a permanent behavior
or a Beta issue. I do a lot of text editing and formatting, it is important to me (serial numbers, Surfaces values, equations etc.)

I have never seen this in any outliners or other programs actually. Maybe there is an advantage but I can't figure it out.

Also how do I apply a Color to a word(s) in the middle of a sentence? (hopefully is not the same as above... :-)

Thank you Pierre.

Problems copying items from one database to another

Submitted by Armando on 2009/02/18 00:42
This proves to be a very challenging task. I'm trying to copy several items (with hierarchies, one or two fields with inheritance on, etc.) from one database to another (need to share some stuff with a co-worker) and it just freezes the application -- waited for half an hour, and nothing happens..
