Forum .SNDB 2-16-2009

Submitted by KeithB on 2009/02/16 21:08
I captured the forums as of 2-16-2009 in .SNDB format, to help keep track of things. I'd been bookmarking lots of stuff, to look at, and was getting overwhelmed.

I really like the way it turned out, it's a handy way to have a lightning-fast search capability, and a great way to reference node names.

The hyperlink to the forum (URL column) is quite handy also.

Nothing fancy, however, I put in a field per ItemHasHtml, which I found fascinating. What flexibility!

I thought I'd post it here, in case anyone else was interested. If anyone you find other uses, or have suggestions of other things to use it for, please comment.

[edit, to put #2 file, which contains .mht files (oops)]`

a fatal error

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/02/16 20:07
create item
select text in item / right click / click link
drag / drop file from desktop onto lower right hand boxed text area that sez "you can drop an outlook object [...] here..."
program unexpected close

I know that's not where i'm supposed to drag / drop there but that's what it sez to do U &U this is what happens.

Also after creating link to file, if file location changes, link no longer functions, lies there like a lox & there is no error msg like "lost link / file moved" or something

Context [grand] parent

Submitted by Anonymous on 2009/02/14 16:45
I am working to generate reports in SQLNote trying to eliminate in part FileMaker.
I filter data by Dates. So far I can get the range that I need and I can see the Context Parents.
The challenge is that without the Upper Parent is not possible to establish the larger context of the report.

The Pivot table is not working because in this case we are using only 0ne Field with Sub-Items for everything except Numbers values and Dates.

It would be great to choose a Upper Context Parent "Level" so that we can be drill as deep as we need working with Filter on any Source Data.
Or maybe it can be done but I have really no clue after going around for a couple of hours.

I am trying different data structures to get what I need in order to migrate my databases into SQLNotes.

Grid corruption ?

Submitted by Armando on 2009/02/12 17:15
In one grid, I always get the :
"Error reading data : Check the source, filter and sort criteria"
whatever I write in the source/filter/source/"any other" bar. It can even be completely empty -- still get the error.
Tried a restart, tried a repair --> still get the error.
What could be the problem?
Anybody else had this problem before?

pre-release 8

Pierre, hope you are feeling better & hard at work on the next release. Do you have an approximate release date so  I can stop bothering you about it? I could create a reminder in IQ calendar.:-)

SUM in Filtered Views

Submitted by Anonymous on 2009/02/11 16:12
I created a Grid with Projects and Times for each.
I use
1 - Clients [Parent to Projects]
2 - Projects [Parent to Tasks]
3 - Tasks
4 - Task Time
5 - Task Date
6 - etc.
I use SUM Parent > Children in Clients, Projects and Tasks so I can get the Totals for all Task related to each Project and Totals for all the Projects Related to a Client.
It works well, but when I use a Date Filter the SUM Totals are always the same.

Is it possible to SUM only Visible items?

Tabbing within text

First time here...

Finally found something useful. I am a MyInfo and FileMaker user and a previous EPIM also. I found this SQLNotes by sheer luck by looking for ECCO.
So I am trying to understand well all the facets of SQLNotes and the first thing that come up is "How to design a specific section for a specific task" because it seems that here you have more than several way of doing something either right or less right.
I think this could be the one.
