Suspected bug in field management for pop-up lists

Submitted by gregory on 2010/08/31 05:15
I suspect a bug in the handling of pop-up lists derived from database queries.

According to 4.03 Field Management Dialog and 4.036 Pop-up Lists:

It should be possible to make pop-up field whose list of permissible values is an SQL query. In fact, it is, and I have used it for a good while.

Hi there,

I have been using IQ since 2007 and though there has been lots of progress in terms of development (thank you for all your work Pierre!), there are a few things that keep me from using IQ for fairly everything (which I really would like to do). With the calendar soon being fully implemented (especially regarding the google sync feature), I will be able to retire my Outlook. However, there are more - in my view - crucial points which would enable IQ to be much more useful than it already is.

I would be grateful if you comment on those points. Perhaps some of my wishes are not so important in your view, perhaps some of them are already implemented and I do not know how to use them...

Reference new IQ manual page Pane manipulation in IQ

I've been trying to figure out how to "pull this off" for a long time.

Please feel free to make any changes in the wording.

For any prospective page writers, the way I came to capture everything, including the fancy cursors and GUI boxes, was to record the maniupulation as a movie (.AVI in my case), then capture still frames from it.

That works surprisingly well--the same technique could be used on any other animations several of us have used on the forum, for "stills" for the manual.

Calendar thoughts

This website's content summarizes well where calendars are going. calendarofthefuture.com/
Not that new, but a nice reminder.

What strikes me as important :

1- Web interconnection : calendar can be connected to various sources of info so that it gets extra details about your various activities directly from the web, etc.
2- Data sharing : share your meetings, what you do etc. with your friends, etc. (Google like, Facebook like, etc.)
3- Calendar as a means to analyse how  time is spent in order to balance up life activities and make better choices.

I think IQ could do all that eventuallyt.  #1 with the HTML pane and some intelligent web fetching,  #2 with google's help, #3...

images dragged onto grid, appear / disappear from grid (M)

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/08/27 20:51
however, if I click on item link, the image appears in external viewer
This is ok except I noticed that the images have landed in a temp folder which means it could disappear @ some point if I clean up my HD

Steps taken
From a web source, I dragged / dropped an image onto the grid
Coincidentally after that I closed IQ
When I re-opened IQ & looked at the grid where I dragged the images, they were no longer there
but the link to the images still existed

Questions

1. why did actual image disappear from grid?
2. why did it end up in a temp file?
3. if I wanted to change link property to show in browser, can I do that (if so, how?)
4. I tried #3 & image did not show up in html file but it's possible it wasn't in browser mode or do images not appear in browser?
5. Is it only documents, i.e.

2 calendar items to consider while working on calendar

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/08/27 19:13
Pierre, These 2 have been discussed before so I put them here as a reminder since you are working on final calendar

1. quick event entry description
Akin to quick search <CTRL>+F

a  quick event entry to follow the following protocol
event + time  (am / pm) + location (@)

so user could open a quick event dialog <CTRL>+Q
like google calendar & enter

dinner w Pierre next sun 5-8pm (early bird special) @ iHop
and IQ would add this event to the calendar on the correct date

Google quick event understands
next saturday vs saturday, etc
