eliminate "jumps" in vertical position in grid

Submitted by jimspoon on 2012/12/28 01:24
when I am making an outline in a grid, and I press Enter to start a new sibling item below the current item - the position of the current item and the new item often jump down from the current location down towards the bottom of the grid.  Quite disconcerting.

Same thing happens with split (ctrl-shift-s) operations.

There shouldn't be any change in the vertical positions of the items in the grid when I press Enter to start a new item.

using PreRel7, was also present in PreRel5, which I had been using until just now.

How IQ helps me -- my scheme for electronic bills, reminders, etc.

With the advent of IQ's new email feature in v9.026 pre rel 7 I thought it might be useful to see how one user put it to use.
I will add more detailed instructions/images to this msg later but here's an overview.

(1) Thunderbird filters for financial emails, i.e. statements ready, new bill due, etc
(2)  A separate filter hones those down to "bill due" via various phrases contained in msg body.

Version 0.9.26Pre-Rel7 is now available !

In this version:

  1. Fixed: Grid column list was sometimes not saved
  2. Changed: Small request - Rename EXE ProductName to just InfoQube
  3. New: EMailToIQ feature. Imports into an IQBase emails sent to an email address. Simply create a dedicated mailbox and use it to dump info into IQ. Setup is done in Tools > Options. Details to come
  4. Deleted: POP Email checker. Too limited as it stood and not used by users.
Enjoy !

How to make the same item appear in more than 1 place? Is it possible?

Submitted by Sheng on 2012/12/13 08:49
Is it possible to make the same item appear in more than 1 place, such as on different Grids, or on different branches of the same Grid, so that when the item is edited in one location, it is changed in its other location(s)? If so, how? Or what is this called? I've tried to find this in the documentation, unfruitfully alas, clueless about what such an operation has been named.

Grid Filter EditBox doesn't remember longer filters?

Submitted by reesd on 2012/12/11 09:53
Does the Grid Filter EditBox (Source Filter Editbox) have some sort of length limit? It seems like it doesn't remember my longer filters (which are the ones I really want it to remember).

For instance I never get this one in the history:
((PriIntH <= 2 OR (PriIntH <= 3 AND DueDateH < 3 + Date())) AND StartDateH <= Date() OR SpriH) AND Check is null

And the longest one I have in my history is this one:
(PriIntH <= 2 OR DueDateH < 3 + Date()) AND StartDate >= Date()

Thanks!

Ability to quickly open an item in another grid

Submitted by reesd on 2012/12/11 09:44
I often want to open the current item in a different grid. For example I may have a filtered to do grid, but want to see the item in the unfiltered "all" grid.

Right now I can open the properties bar, then expand the "shown in N grids" section, then click on the grid name.

However I would really like a faster way to do it. Some ideas:
  • ctrl-clicking on a tab or grid tab will open like normal, but also try to select the current item in the newly opened tab.
  • "open in grid" menu and toolbar item that lists the grid the item is in

Small request - Rename EXE ProductName to just InfoQube

Submitted by reesd on 2012/12/11 09:18
 Hi Pierre,

This is kind of a random (and low priority) request, but next time you are changing the version number it would nice if you could rename the infoQube.EXE's "ProductName" to just "InfoQube" rather than " InfoQube Information Management System".

The ProductName is actually used in some window managers (in my case in Witch on OSX when I am using Parallels), and the current long name takes up a lot of space.

I hack it myself using ResourceHacker each time I update, but if its no trouble it would be nice if you just tweaked the EXE next time you had a chance.

Thanks!

To be specific, here is what I change in ResourceHacker (in bold):
