Copy/Paste of tab indented outline

Submitted by Jon on 2015/08/31 16:22
Using version 54. Select items using # column, then copy. I select the first option in the dialogue that appears (1. Tab indented outline). When I try to paste this into Word, LibreOffice, WordPad, whatever, I get a one level list that is not even in proper order.

If the item column is selected and then copied, no options for tab indenting appear. But pasting the outline works properly.

What am I missing?

"Show Items in the Search Grid" brings up wrong items - corruption?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/08/30 12:53
I did a Ctrl+F search for "handbrake".
Three items turned up in the "binoculars" tab.
Clicked "Show items in the Search Grid".
The items did not show up in the Search grid.
An unrelated item shows up in the Search Grid instead
From binoculars tab, I tried clicking on one of the items shown in Properties Pane > Item Info > Children
This brought up an unrelated item in the Scratch pane.  (IDItem=48162)

Did the IDItems get screwed up somehow?

I did move my Dropbox folder because my SSD was full, had to make some space on the SSD.  But that shouldn't affect the internal integrity of the .sndb file?

How to diagnose or cure?

Small typing issue when inputting using Dragon NaturallySpeaking; I wonder if anything can be done?

Submitted by gregory on 2015/08/29 04:23
Release 54 has addressed a number of issues surrounding typing and keying in and in general it is a huge improvement on earlier releases in that respect. Thus for example I do not now experience an involuntary change of case on the second and subsequent characters when typing.

Help! Lost my columns in a grid view

Submitted by ChrisC on 2015/08/28 17:46
I have no idea what I've done. I consider myself an IQ newbie but have some "ease" with the basics of the program. I have about 20 grids going. On one I have lost the ability to see any of the columns excepting the number column. My other grids work fine. I can add & remove columns easily. I have tried all the ways I know how to restore the column visibility with no effect. Even the Item column will not display. When I look in the Properties Pane, all the info is there.

I'm clueless as to how to resolve this. I'm sure someone can tell what to do to fix it.

It's so mysterious to me I'm anxious to hear what it is. (-:

Also , I have not been able to get the line number column to display in some grids Or to separate it from the Item column (when it's set as the Tree Column).

Thanks in advance,

Chris

"Show Grid in Toolbar" checkbox

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/08/27 12:33
How about putting the "Show Grid in Toolbar" checkbox as a column in the Manage Grids table (instead of the Options to the right).  Would make it very easy to hide/show grids in the toolbar or View > Grids menu, to clear up a cluttered list.  Also might be nice to float the "checked" grids to the top of the Manage Grids list.

Actually might be nice to clarify that that "Show Grid In" applies not only to toolbar when displayed, but also to the View > Grids menu.

Also have to say when I want to open a Grid, my instinct is always to go to the Grid menu instead of the View menu.  Seems like if it pertains to a Grid, it should be in the Grid menu.  But I understand if others think it fits better in the View menu.

Archiving items ?

Submitted by Pierre_Admin on 2015/08/26 15:10
Hi All !

I'm a big fan of GMail for many reasons, one of them is the concept of archiving items... Out of sight but still there if needed...

Through filters, one can do this in IQ of course, but how about if this was really integrated in InfoQube ?
Archiving items would hide them from grids by default, but one could choose to show archived items.
  1. Who would use this feature if available ?
  2. How do you see this implemented ?
  3. Where would archived items be shown ? and not ?
  4. Would archiving only hide items in the grid where archiving took place ?
  5. Would archiving be limited to the Inbox (the same as GMail) ?
Please express yourself !

very minor wordwrap problem

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/08/24 19:13
IQ does not follow some usual conventions when wrapping text in a grid cell.  For example, a word at the end of a sentence followed by a period.   IQ wordwrap sometimes breaks a line between the word and the period.  Usually programs would break the line before the last word so that the word and the period are on the next line.  Not a big deal at all but something you might want to fix.

cursor jumps after item split

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/08/23 19:17
Say I am editing an item in a grid, in the Item column.  The vertical position of the edited item is in the middle of the grid.  If I press Ctrl+Shift+S to split the item - the item is split, but the two items - the text before the split point, and the text after the split point - now appear at the bottom of the grid.  A bit disconcerting.  Would be better if the the items stayed in the sam vertical position where the item was before it was split.

split item on line breaks (or other character)

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/08/23 18:16
I often have a lot of text in the Item field, and I want to split up that text so that it is contained in a number of items instead of just one item.

I can use the Ctrl+Shift+S split item for each item, and it works, but each split involves moving between items, reactivating the next cell for editing, positioning the cursor.

So I am wondering whether it would be possible to add a "Split Item On" feature, where I would insert a specific character into the block of text that I want to split up, which would act as a "split point".  Then when I ran a Split command, the item would be split in to multiple items.  Each new item would begin where I inserted the "split character".

This way many "split item" functions could be consolidated into one.

I have figured out that I can:
1.  insert line breaks (shift+enter) into
