preserve cursor location in popup editor - minor request

Submitted by jimspoon on 2015/11/12 00:07
Say I am editing text in a grid cell and then I decide it would be better if I did the editing in the Shift+F2 popup editor rather than the grid.  When I press Shift+F2, the cursor goes to the start of the item being edited.  Would it be possible to make the cursor go to the same position in the item in the popup editor as it was in the grid cell when Shift+F2 was pressed?

One reason this would be good for me - I am still having the problem where the item does not split properly when I press Ctrl+Shift+S in a grid cell.   But I do not have this problem when I press Ctrl+Shift+S in the popup editor - the split is completed properly.  So if the cursor position was preserved when I switch to the popup editor, I could split the item at a given location with two keystrokes - Shift+F2, Ctrl+Shift+S.

thanks much !!

"Restore Layout on Opening Files" : now off by default?

Submitted by Armando on 2015/11/09 17:01
Not a bug per se, but I wonder if this is by design or not.

I think it should be ON by default : users can turn it off really easily. But If it's off, one might not ever know the reverse is possible (restore layout on opening file)... unless one is going through the forum or the help file.

[FIXED] "Not responding" messages

Submitted by WayneK on 2015/11/07 16:54
I'm getting repeated "not responding" messages where the screen goes slightly gray and the hour glass appears.  Everything is then frozen for 20-30 seconds.  This is happening 10+ times a day.

I'm working with a modest database of only 10 mb.  My ultimate database will probably be 50x that size, which has me worried.  There shouldn't be a problem with system memory (16 GB Ram).  No other programs are doing this.

Update: per usual, I thought of something to try immediately after posting this.  I'm compacting and repairing the database.  Will report back on whether that resolves it.

Update-2: Didn't help.  I got two "not responding" messages as soon as I went back to work.  Is it the nature of the work that could be causing it?  I have all my items displayed in the Inbox grid and am assigning them to topic fields by ticking off field

Image Problems in HTML Pane

Submitted by WayneK on 2015/11/06 19:06
I'm continuing to run into problems with pasting images into the HTML pane.  It just hasn't been smooth and reliable.  This was my experience last year and it really seems like it's the same.  Maybe these things were fixed previously and have been broken again by updates but here's some of the things I'm running into.

1) Zoom doesn't work.  When I paste an image, often it's way oversized vs the text I want to add below it.  The first step is to zoom out so I can see the outer edge of the image, but the zoom commands in the toolbar don't work.  I can zoom out using my mouse wheel but then there's no way to reset to a standard 100% zoom.

2) Re-sizing handles often don't work.

a) Image remains "pasted" to the background and cannot be re-sized (when I click on the image, no handles appear), or...

b) When I select the image, the re-sizing h

Merging databases

Submitted by WayneK on 2015/11/06 12:08
When I was first trying InfoQube I dumbly created a number of different databases.  I'm trying to consolidate them now.  I've read what I could find on merging databases but it appears that it's been several years since the topic was discussed.

First I tried importing the database.  That didn't go well.  Everything was chopped up into single line items and it created a huge number of meaningless (to me) items.

It appears that the only way to do it is to copy/paste items.  I don't mind doing that, except I wish I could at least preserve the "date created" info.  I don't mind losing the other field info.  Is there any way to accomplish that?

Thanks, Wayne
