title bar display option - add {datemodified} keyword?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2016/07/21 16:39
I think it might be useful if we could configure the Title Bar to display the "date modified" of the database file.   Or, perhaps put this info in the lower right hand corner of the status bar.  Right now it seems that the time display is the current time, not the modified time stamp of the database file.

Remove Blank Values?

Submitted by David_H on 2016/07/21 01:36
When using a pop-up list items using that pop-up field can get assigned blank values.  Those blank values can then (at times) cause the item to show up in grids you don't want them to show up in.  How do I remove blank values??

Screenshot example attached, this item has a blank value of "type".  That causes it to show up in several grids that filter on type*.  How do I delete the (blank) value?!

Edit: OK, so it seems I can click on the blank value and clear it out.  Sometimes refreshing doesn't appear to work and i have to leave the grid and come back to see it take effect, so that's what was confusing me.

Thanks

*Yes, I know I could filter out blank values, but I want to know how to remove the blank value altogether.

How do I fix shortcut issue?

Submitted by WayneK on 2016/07/20 17:18
This is minor issue that has taken on some importance because it happens so much.  I use both Excel and InfoQube grid to create lists within cells.  In both cases, you have to enter a keyboard shortcut to start a new line.

The problem is: in Excel, the shortcut is Alt-return;  in InfoQube it's Shift-return.  It's an annoyance because I can never remember which is which.  At the least I have to pause and think about it and it's gotten to the point that I have a mental block.

I'd like to change either keyboard shortcut to match the other but can't figure out how.  Neither shortcut is listed under InfoQube shortcuts.  In Excel 2007 it looks like you have to download additional software and learn how to use it to change shortcuts.

Any ideas on how I can resolve what should be a simple problem?

Saved changes to fields in the fields properties dialog : very slow (V78)

Submitted by Armando on 2016/07/19 18:48
Each and every change to fields in the fields properties dialog now takes a long time to be recorded as -- from what I get -- everything is always updated simultaneously (grids, properties pane,etc.).
That might be  fine in a DB without too many fields or grids, but it's extremely slow in a DB with a lot of fields and grids.

(I'm primarily working with 77b,but I'm keeping a v78 handy.)

IQ backups (done *from* the software) don't record/remember layouts/opened tabs (even after DB being closed/reopened etc.)

Submitted by Armando on 2016/07/19 18:43
None of my manual** IQ  backups (done from the software) are able to later record/remember layouts/opened tabs (even after DB being closed/reopened etc.)

Apart from the different extension, what's the difference between a backup and the original file ? Shouldn't it be exactly the same ? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks
**(I prefer manual backups with a shortcut key as I don't like to have automatic backups start at inappropriate moments - during a meeting, in the middle of sentence, etc.).

Getting Started Guide

1. Starting InfoQube

On startup, InfoQube will show the Start page:

2. Create and Open an IQBase

InfoQube is a file-based application, so the first step is naturally to open / create a new file (i.e. IQBase)

Options are:
  • New blank IQBase
  • New IQBase: with sample data
  • New IQBase: copy of the Welcome to IQ file containing the full user manual
  • Open an existing IQBase, such as the Welcome to IQ file.
