Setting reminders

Submitted by WayneK on 2020/07/27 17:20
Is there a way to set an alarm or reminder for an item?

I have always used InfoQube for research, not task management so I have never looked into how to do this.

Was expecting there to be a "set alarm" in the item menu.  Searches for alarm, reminder, appointment in the manual found nothing.  Maybe related to creating events?  I did that and it's showing up in the calendar but I still see nothing about a pop-up alarm of some kind.

Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Missing field

Submitted by DavidF on 2020/07/20 19:03
hi,

not putting this in as a bug as I'm really not sure what's going on. I've noticed that some of my databases have a Date field and some don't. Any idea what this is to do with? Was there a version of IQ that didn't have this field? Can't think of anything differentiating between these databases other than date of creation.

I mean I know I could create it - it's just a standard date field. But it's handy.

Navigation issue with images pasted into cells

Submitted by DavidF on 2020/07/20 18:52
I have been trying out pasting images into cells. Very useful and the actual pasting works well. However there are some oddities when it comes to navigating with the arrow keys. You cannot the use the left or right arrow key to move into a cell with an image in it. If there is a cell with text in it on the other side, the movement is blocked. If the cell on the other side is empty, attempting to use the arrow key to move into the image cell "jumps" over it into the empty cell. Of course you can still select any arbitrary cell with the mouse.

There is another oddity which may be connected. If you delete the image in a cell, you cannot edit the cell in the normal way, e.g. by pressing F2 or starting to type. You have to do shift-F2 to get the floating editor. Also, even after the image has been deleted and text added, the behaviour of the arrow keys described above is still in place.

Possible to constrain the automatic/random sorting of grid's items after a filter (e.g. hoist, column filter) is turned off?

 Hi,

I'm using IQ 0.9.116pre2.
Is it possible to constrain the automatic/random sorting of grid's items after a filter (e.g. hoist, column filter) is turned off?
The problem I'm facing is:
- I spend plenty of time ordering items manually in an IQ grid.
- Then after using a filter (e.g. hoist, column filter) an adding/handling items with the filter ON, my manual ordering of the full grid is lost when I turn the filter OFF.
In the end, I'm just trying to find out a way to constrain IQ grids to sort similarly to MS Excel, which will reordering rows "permanently" only when the user triggers manually the "Sort A to Z / Z to A" commands.

Thank you,
Carlos

Finding items that belong only to the Inbox

Submitted by DavidF on 2020/07/14 18:50
Is there any way to categorise/indicate items that belong to the Inbox and to no other grid? Inbox = Yes and count of yes/no fields = 1, kind of thing? Thinking of a way to tidy it up. I use the Inbox as a first port of call and when I can't think of anywhere else to put something and it can get somewhat cluttered. It would be good to separate out all the ones that already belong to some other grid, from the ones that have no other home. Knowing then that the first lot I can safely clear from the Inbox, the second lot I need to go through to find them some other grid(s) they can belong to.

I can do this going through them one by one and checking the "shown in n grids" box, but it would be handy if there was a way of showing that status in the grid, or via a filter.

Long delay before showing Item

Submitted by lbw2112 on 2020/07/14 10:00
 Hi,
Items that I clipped from certain website take long to show up in the Doc Pane when I click on them.   I'm getting around a 25 second pause when I first click on the Item before it shows. It usually even renders IQ Unresponsive.

After the first time I click on it and wait, it usually will show up immediately if I I ever click back to it in the same session but other times it'll still take the same amount of time as the first time.

The part that I select and clip on is a table of times for Sunset etc.   I added the sample below.

What's strange is I experimented around and found that if I disable access to the internet that the Item Doc Pane info will show up immediately when I click on it.  Even closing and restarting IQ.

Cursor sticks when scrolling in Field List

Submitted by DavidF on 2020/07/11 15:14
Here's an odd one: if scrolling through the fields in the Manage Fields list, the scrolling sticks and goes no further when it encounters a Date field. Resolved by manually clicking in another field.

If you do successfully scroll through a Date field, in my experience, it will definitely then stick there when you scroll back the other way.

Using 0.9.116pre2 portable. Don't think this was happening before this version.

cheers
