How to organize databes

Submitted by jsolka on 2011/02/04 15:39
I've been using IQ, among other things, as a "dashboard" to access other files (that's why hyperlinks were so important for me). Now, what I've been doing so far: all the linked files, I would still organize in the usual windows way via folders. I've been doing this mostly for fear that should something ever happen to IQ (or should I like to use something else) -- I won't be able to make sense of all those files if they were just thrown in without any structure. But here is my dilemma -- I just feel that I do my work twice, and anyway, the IQ structure is easily changed and reorganized the windows folders stay the same & rigid. And if I ever need to change it, then I would have to rework my links. So maybe it is really not worth it, and it would be better to just not care about how the linked files are kept as long as they linked and organized through IQ, Anyway, was curious about your thoughts.
Thanks

[rather urgent...] conditional calculations don't work

Submitted by Armando on 2011/01/31 17:00
In a sample DB, let's pick the "InvoiceTotal" field which column equation is "MySum (billable). So: 1- Open the Invoice grid. 2- Put the focus on the John Doe item, "Total" Cell/field. 3- click recalculate (shift F9) 4- Total changes to 0. If you change the rate or whatever, the Invoicetotal Row equation updates the result, but the column equation doesn't. ========== I don't know how and why I didn't notice earlier. I guess I haven't worked a lot with my "finance" and projects grids lately. When today I needed to update everything project and financial... Nothing worked as expected and still doesn't. Hopefully this can fixed soon... My financial, project, and task grids depend on it.

Clearing Item Text field in clipper

Submitted by Al on 2011/01/28 12:36
In the Clipper, Win+N, is there a short cut key that clears the Item Text field. I want to add multiple notes with the Clipper. Basically I want to select the existing text in the Item Text field and delete it, so I can enter new text, all from the keyboard. Better yet would be, adds Item Text to grid, then clears the Item Text field for another entry.

infoqube awesomeness

Submitted by ThomR on 2011/01/28 10:43
Every now and then I come across some new aspect of infoqube just waiting there for my benefit, and I realize how amazing this program is. It's really the answer to my dreams (those dreams usually involving my dissertation somehow), and I hope I can use it for the rest of my life (though hopefully said dissertation will be finished long before me).

<SOLVED> Can't save HTML content

Don't know what happened -- tried to save HTML content several times, and can't. Tried repair, installed another version, nothing helped.
Thanks

Update: I think the problem is with USB stick. When I copied the file to desktop it worked. Anyway, I think my USB stick needs to be replaced. Curious what could have happened. I reformatted it because it didn't work with Apple then reformatted back, and now there are those probelms.

Auto size width (in Manage Grids | Column) [disappearance of columns] (M)

Submitted by Jon on 2011/01/20 10:11
I have a number of columns that I have carefully set up (maybe a dozen, but this will work with fewer). All of the columns happen to be check boxes. If I tick Auto size width, most of the columns move off the window, never to be seen again. Clearing the tick box and attempting to re-size does no good. If I check the Shown tick boxes for the columns that are no longer displayed, I see that they are no longer ticked (but I am ). Even so, there is something odd about this function since activating Auto size makes a column that is no larger than 8 characters SUPERSIZE.

I'm using IQ version I.
