Pierre, this needs to be explained or fixed (together with the other inheritance problem). My DB is presently a bit of a mess and I'd like to "clean" it.

 

In a sample DB :

 

1- go to the project grid

2- Drag the project field in the grid from the properties pane  so that it's visible.

3- in the second visible item ( "Design" ), Write "Hello" in project field

4- Now go to the TLI and, again in the project field, change "Somiro" for "Somiro Test"

5- The second item's "Hello" stays... "Hello", all others are changed.

 

[How To] append a piece of text to multiple items ?

 

I want to add the same piece of text to multiple items, is this possible ?

 

Example, say I want to add the text "in progress" to 50 items, I would want the 50 items' text to remain the same, just that "in progress" would be added at the end of the item-field text

I've just twice-experienced removing a Sub Item from a Parent and that Sub Item being consequently removed from other Parents, despite checking-off that it be removed from only the selected Parent.  Scary.  Also, asigning Tagged Items to other Parents seems a bit off to me in so much as indented Sub Item formatting doesn't seem to be carrying well to the new Parent, but the info shows up in haphazard fashion instead, some is indented, some is not, the order is different, etc.  Using Pre-Rel-25.

Perhaps more accurately described as:  a Stand Alone Item being tagged and added to another Item (it becoming a Parent) as a Sub Item, then deleting that Sub Item and discovering that it's original presence as a Stand Alone Item elsewhere has also been deleted - anyhow, I'm definiately now afraid to delete Sub Items added by the Tagging mechanism.

can a yes/no field *add* a date to a text field when ticked (without erasing content of the text field)?

 

 

Background:

 

I have a yes/no "Changed" field - this fills a date-field "DateChanged" with current date

 

I use this to keep track of the last time an item was modified (usually a file link) 

When I make another change to the item I untick Changed, the DateChanged field is then deleted. I then retick Changed and the DateChanged is refilled with current date.

Now I need to be able to keep track of multiple modification dates for an item

Hopefully you'll understand that my "scarce" participation has nothing to do with my appreciation and interest with it.

I'd really like to help, but... I don't have enough time. I chose to focus on 1- issues, 2- answering questions in the forum, 3- thinking of the next DB designs and maintaining the previous ones. This already  takes many hours a week (trying to reproduce the reported issues, finding the exact steps, writing them down, and entering in Mantis if necessary). However... if you guys think that all our energy would be better invested if it was spent on the manual, please say...

I almost never use hierarchy, but I (by mistake) had it on recently, and the problem I used to have with full-hierarchy now I noticed with hierarchy (as I said i don't care much about it because i never use it, but anyway it seems like a bug) I have 0.9.25Pre-Rel25 and when I move sub-items (with "hierarchy" on) and then refresh they go back to where they were before. All my items belong to the grid.

I've found a technique that should work to build a help index for the Jibz' chm manual.

The technique is mentioned in dump2chm.pl /compilation request, and will be able to show like the figure below (I loaded html code in 4 of the online manual pages)

 

I'm using -- link to nonexistent node ID 1684 -- to try to keep track of things. It would be great if people could load this up with appropriate index terms and/or pages to get the index terms should reference.

 

I've been clicking "source" in this editor, then putting the html code required at the bottom of the online pages. Then when Jibz makes a new chm manual, any pages marked in the online manual with the appropriate html code and index terms, will show at the top of the chm index as shown.

This is provided in the hope it will be useful, of course. I realize this is far too simplistic for many users of this forum, but will perhaps be of use to those with a level of expertise own, that is to say, closer to zero. I imagine what I've done is already part and parcel of some of the material already available on this site.

 

My goal was this:

1) Creating an item should start tracking without further ado.

2) Creating a subitem should also start tracking, without stopping the tracking of the parent.

 

Remaining to do:

1) Lots, including:

2) Make it a little easier to input the end time for a task.

3) Ideally (for me, anyway) creating a new TLI should update the previous TLI and calculate its time.That may be a hard row to hoe and still keep subitem functionality.

4) Should add a Billable yes/No field.
