Item field wont accept a '=' at start

Submitted by Tom on 2017/03/07 10:36
If the item field text starts with an equal sign '=', any ensuing text entered disappears (on pressing Enter).

I used use '=' to ensure sorting at the beginning in an A-Z sort, and was copying this text from an older file (where it had not been a problem). So,
pasted the guilty text into the item field -- which worked. But when I edited the text (leaving the = at the beginning) the text disappeared.
I see that I am unable to write text to the item field if '=' is at the beginning.

I know that it's taboo in spreadsheet to start with an = unless it's an equation, but the item field is text, so thought it would/should be okay here.
And as said, had not been a problem in the past.

Clipping Questions

Submitted by David_H on 2017/03/04 16:28
 1. Can someone give me some insight into how the Universal Clipper (InfoQubeClipper.exe) is supposed to work?  Sometimes I will highlight text on a web page, launch the clipper, and the text is there as I'd expect it to be.  But then the next time I try to highlight some text on a webpage and launch the universal clipper, the text from the previous clipping is still in the clipper, and no matter what I do I can't get rid of it.  Eventually I just give up and manually copy and paste from Chrome to the IQ HTML pane, which often seems to end up with poorly formatted pages that bear little resemblance to the original.  Strangely manually copying and pasting from Firefox seems to work better, but I now use Chrome almost exclusively.

2. Has anyone found any utilities which allow for fast copying/cleaning up/pasting into IQ?

Icon question

Submitted by WayneK on 2017/03/04 12:35
I'm trying to use icons for the first time but can't get it to work.

Help file says: - To display an icon, in a text field write : <img>name of icon from the icon file</img>

(If the icon name exists, it will be displayed once you leave edit mode.)

Surface Questions Thread (Everyone Welcome)

Submitted by David_H on 2017/03/03 14:42
1. Here is what I have figured out so far.  Unlike Map View, which works for all items, you need to give an item the field value of "Surface1" to be able to view it in Surface view.  Correct?

2. When I drag items around, I am not seeing the interconnecting lines, only the arrow ends.  Example attached.  I have right clicked but don't see any options.  Suggestions?

3. Everything on the Surface opens fully collapsed as one item.  Cntrl + # does not expand (works perfectly though on Map View now).  How do I expand and collapse (other than clicking one by one)?

Thanks!

"Shown in 0 Grids"

Just an odd thing I have been noticing -

I can be editing the Item field in a Grid and in Properties Pane > Item Info > Shown in n Grids, I see that the indicator is "Shown in 0 Grids".  This is strange - it should show at least "Shown in 1 Grid", it's in the grid in which I am editing the item.

If I exit Edit mode, move the highlight to another item and then back to the item was editing, "Shown in 0 Items" is still shown.  If I press F5 to refresh the Grid, "Shown in 0 Items" is still shown.  But I Refresh the grid and then move to another item and back again, finally "Shown in 1 Items"  will appear.

proposal to work with a temp db and copy to source with <ctrl>+s

Submitted by Weisnix on 2017/03/02 11:03

Due to the fact that I first tried my copy paste experiment with cut instead of copy I lost some text (its only test setup), because I was not able to undo the whole text.

So, yes I also vote for a multistep undo function. But maybe this is to much workload in the short run. So why not transfer the working method from a textbased programm to a databased one.

In a textbeased programm I only save to file when I see everthing after the current operation went o.k. otherwise I startup again from loading source.

Not possible when the programm ist database based, unless we work on a temp version of the source database. My proposal would only work for single desktop environment of infoqube.

the sequence of items changed in inverse order after <alt>+<right>

Just I started with a test setup and the first problems occur, with some maybe special features.

I have a list of ideas written in a text file (MS Doc Format 2003-2007) in libre office writer (Vers. 5.2.2.2.) which contains text separated in paragraphs formated as a bullated list and some tabs within.

Because I had a problem to import the text with the correct display of german umlauts by using the import function I marked, copied and paste the text into the scratch grid of infoqube (Vers. 0.9.91c build 18.01.2017) not before I entered a first item in this grid maybe „1. old text version“.
