Could items hyperlinks open items in their "homegrid" instead of the scratch grid ?

Submitted by Armando on 2014/01/11 19:25
While the scratch grid can sometimes be useful, it rarely is for displaying hyperlinks "content" -- at least in my experience. Items are almost best seen in the right context, and that means the right grid with the right set of columns.

It's too long and annoying to transform the scratch grid into any meaningful way for every hyperlink I click.

Since the item's "home grid" can be defined for any item, couldn't hyperlinks open in home grids ? At least as an option ? Same for clickable parents and sibblings in the properties pane (there, there could definitely be an option : open in scratch grid vs open in home grid.)

Thoughts ?

Is an IQ "Viewer" version planned?

Submitted by Tom on 2013/12/31 07:36
I thought I read about this before but couldnt find anything:

I'm wondering had you planned a viewer version of IQ - one where people can view a file but not modify it (?)

Or maybe one where they would be able to drag/drop + add parents - but not modify text in cells or in html pane.
Or just limited in some way...

Background FWIW:
I currently have the dubious pleasure of working with/-in spreadsheets.
I would like to create an IQ version of the final file and be able to give it to someone - without having to worry about betas expiring.

"Seach" Confusion (Bug?)

Submitted by Tom on 2013/12/11 06:22
I havent been using IQ much of late - so dont know if this a bug or not:

Search (Ctrl+F)
Select a few item & click [Show items in a new Search grid]
The new search grid has far too many items (40 to 75 so far)

Seems to be reproducible in the sample file:
Ctrl+F
Search for "Info" (no quotes)
Select the first say, 6 items
click [Show items in a new Search grid]
If I turn of Hierarchy & Context-Parents in the new grid, I have 43 items showing

Am I misunderstanding something or is this a bug?

"Shown in Grids"

Submitted by jimspoon on 2013/12/06 15:27
The properties pane has a section named "Shown in Grids" - it shows the grids which contain the currently focused item.

Likewise, The "quick find" window has a column labeled "Shown In" which does the same thing for the items that  were found using the quick find function.

It seems to me that when I click one of these displayed grid names, it should take me to the precise location of the current item or listed item in that particular grid.

But when I do this, IQ takes me to the appropriate grid, but not to the appropriate item.  To find the appropriate item, I have to use a search function once again.

What's up with this?

thanks for any advice.

Can't move items

Submitted by Sam.p on 2013/12/06 11:06
Hello,

I am a new user, and I don't succeed in moving items.

Each time I refresh a grid, or close/reopen my file, my items get back to their first locations.

Can you help me in moving my items? (I tried with drag and drop and with Alt+up but it does the same).

Thanks.

Time for a quick update on IQ progress.
The new calendar module is progressing quite well. Most features present in the old "Outlook-like" calendar have now been implemented.
Version 0.9.26Pre-Rel14 will be available soon and will feature the new calendar. Over time, this calendar will be so much more powerful.

Multiple HTML editing panes

Submitted by Tom on 2013/11/09 12:57
I dont think there's a thread for Multiple HTML editing panes yet (?)

Seems like very nice capability  with potential - i.e. feature request(s) following :-)

Say I have three HTML panes open, each locked onto a different item:
Currently if I move focus from one HTML pane to another, the focus in the grid stays on one item the whole time (I'm not even sure which item the Grids stays with - the first item whose HTML pane I edited I think)
