create recurring item outside of calendar

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2011/11/10 12:37
Is this possible?

Usage:
My address book serves as a matrix for many routine tasks

From my address book I select certain contacts which are bill related, i.e. tel co, electric co, etc
children of these items may equal tel notes, bills due, i.e. whatever activity occurs
In my address view I have a boolean field = bill
From this I have constructed a bill view which brings up all those bills & links to on line payment sites
To this view I've added bill due date, paid = boolean, paid date = date, priority = boolean, cost = currency number, Recurring = boolean

Using recurring field, can I construct a recurring date outside of the calendar view or is that only a calendar function?

Thanks

On my machine IE9 has screwed up my copy to IQ function <SOLVED>

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2011/11/06 12:29
yes, i am using the latest IQ.

I don't know what possessed me to update from IE8 to IE9 but I did it & now I can copy ANYTHING from FF (my default browser) to IQ either automatically or manually. Selection does not make to the clipboard.

And now IE8 doesn't want to install on my system which is running Win 7 Home Premium.

I am REALLY FRUSTRATED now.

Anyone have a fix? Please.

Search grid

I do a find and have the results displayed in the search grid. Context parents are enabled, but I see only the immediate parent. Is there any way to display the full lineage in the grid?

While I am on this, the lineage display on the status bar seems to work erratically. I am not claiming that it returns incorrect results, but it sometimes just does not work at all.

[FIXED] Bugs with conditional column equations (important...)

Submitted by Armando on 2011/11/01 13:44
There are 2 rather important bugs plaguing conditional column equations.

1- First one erases the data in the fields that include a conditional equation/function and no row equation

In a sample dB, "invoice" grid :
- In the field management dialog "total" field, remove the row equation
- back to the grid : check or uncheck the "billable" field : total values disappear and... it shouldn't

EDIT : forgot to add the workaround. If there's no equation in the row equation section of that field, just add a  "=[that field] " in the row equation section.

auto (interval) backups are not working (FIXED 0.9.25W3)

Submitted by reesd on 2011/10/29 18:44
Users, please note that auto-backups are NOT working.

This is now confirmed by Tom below. I am highlighting this because nothing is worse than having an issue and then  realizing your data is not being backed up. Until this is fixed you may want to setup an alternative backup strategy (which is probably a good idea in general).

"Create backup on close" IS working. So you probably want to make sure that is at least turned on.

I have auto-backup set to every 60 minutes, but that seems to have stopped working sometime in the last few weeks. I have a backup for midnight for last night around midnight, but none before that for several weeks til 10/13.

field equation

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2011/10/28 13:24
In field equations I want an item to change to a specific color if two criteria are present

If item is bold
and
if item is assigned to field daylogs

I'm assuming this belongs in daylogs field equation (or should it be in item field equation?.
but don't know the syntax.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Add Caption column to Add/Remove Columns dialog (ADDED 0.9.25W3, TWEAKED 0.9.25W4)

Submitted by reesd on 2011/10/27 17:34
Minor, but I think useful tweak.

Could you add a column for the field's Caption value to the Add/Remove Columns dialog (like the Description column you already have)? That would be helpful since "Caption" is really "column name" and columns are what we are adding/removing - so we are thinking in terms of column names not field names (which can be pretty different).

Thanks,
d
