starting IQ

Another quick question:
On my work computer, when I click on IQ, it opens by itself. At home, however, another window appears, and I need to click OK to open IQ. Why is that? As far as I know I have same versions on both machines.

ADD

Had I been born in the current decade -- or so --  I probably would have been diagnosed as ADD. No one knew about ADD in the 1940's.

While I am very detail oriented, I need a structure which permits the gathering & organizing, retention & reminding of a multitude of information from a multitude of sources in a single place.

SQLNotes, aka InfoQute does this for me in spades.

I don't like structured dB programs like Outlook or ACT!

Edit ItemCreated date?

Pierre
would you consider (if it's possible) allowing editing of ItemCreated date?
I'm increasing using it to sort items and sometimes would like to be able to bump an item up or down the list

or maybe I should try and think of another way of sorting - maybe I could create a 'fake' ItemCreated field based on the original that could be modified . .

working w IQ on multiple computers

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/05/18 09:21
I searched the dB & found several references on this very subject, questions that I, myself, asked.
But after reading the answers, yet again, I'm still not sure the best way to implement what I want to do.
I need very explicit steps.

I have a PC which is where I do most of my work
When I travel I travel w a netbook
I want to 'carry' my IQ w me when I travel.

Should I just copy everything over to a card or something? And if so, what is everything?
Should I install the program on the netbook & the data on the card
Does synch include synching to two IQ databases so only the newer items will be added to the older file (avoiding duplication)

What do you think the most efficient way would be to accomplish my goal?

Thank you.

quick search display

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/05/17 19:38
I have a contact grid
All main items in the contact grid are 'bolded' to set them apart in
context parent views
When creating a hyperlink, I search select items but item from
contract grid does not appear bolded
why?

Steps:

In a grid I call 'contacts' I list all my contacts
Jan
Pierre
Tom
each one of these is bolded, i.e. <ctrl>B

From within another grid, I take a note:
05/16/09 04:27 pm spoke to Jan
In edit mode, I select 'Jan' text
click link icon
click select items
in Quick Search I start typing 'J' 'a' 'n'
I scan the results for the one that is 'Shown In' "contacts"
In the Quick Search list 'Jan' shown in "contacts" does not appear
bolded
why?

Web sites back on track

Both the community web site (i.e. here) and Mantis were down for a few hours, while we switched server. We're now on a less congested server, so page load should be much improved.

I know users have been wanting to get their hands on the latest version. There are many changes, including the (near) final name transition. Expect it monday or tuesday.

Cheers!
