Quick way to add the currently selected item to another grid (without using the mouse)

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/03/27 05:04
Just wanted to ask if there is a quick way to add the current item in grid view to a certain other grid (without using the mouse / using the same sequence of keys to be sent each time)? I tried going through the properties pane but couldn't figure out a reliable way to get to the target grid name in the "All Fields" section each time. I want to use this method in an Autohotkey script so the key codes needed to accomplish this would have to be repeatable regardless of the current status of / focus position in the properties pane.

I'm probably being daft and there is a much easier way...

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

table joins

Submitted by jimspoon on 2019/03/26 02:49
I was just looking at the manual page "Sync with a fictitious SQL Server database" Sync with a fictitious SQL Server database and looked at the example -
it seems to involve syncing data from another DBMS, specifically the results of a SELECT statement with multiple table joins, to IQ fields.
Unless I am not understanding this correctly, that would seem to make it possible to use IQ to query external database data using table joins and generate results with many-to-one relationships, in a way that can't be done using the "internal" IQ capabilities.
The process is not particularly easy though. That makes me think, if IQ can do this, could not IQ accomplish similar results by creating a grid that joins multiple grids and filters the joined grid in any desired manner?

I hope I have phrased my question in an intelligible way.

Repeat calendar events not showing in Appointments tab

Submitted by MarkR on 2019/03/25 18:01
I have created several annually repeating Calendar events. The initial events showed in the Appointments tab. However I can't make subsequent occurrences show in the Appointments tab - Their properties show the initial 2016 date and therefore do not appear if a more recent date filter is applied. What am I doing wrong?

Broken PDF links

I'm finding a lot of my links to pdf files are broken (files won't launch).  I create the links by dragging the file into InfoQube and selecting:

create a new item
link should point to Shortcut to the file
hyperlink type: dynamic
link storage: file link fields.

I thought these settings would create links that would find files even if they've been moved or had their names changed.  Do I have the settings wrong for accomplishing this?  Trying to figure out what's going wrong.

Some suggestions

Submitted by LeftEccoForIQ on 2019/03/23 18:27
  1. Personally, I find the auto hide button on detached tabs too small for convenience. Because it's right next to the 'close' button, I often hit that button instead by mistake.
  2. Auto-adjusting date filters dependent on today's date: Could you make it possible to have a date filter for a grid that is always set to something like 'today + 30 days'?

Bug collection (several weeks' worth)

If any of these descriptions aren't quite clear, I'd be happy to illustrate with screenshots / videos:
  1. The first v112 or v111k added a space character at the beginning of the title bar caption. (So now it's " InfoQube..." rather than "InfoQube..." - I noticed because it broke some of my IQ-related Autohotkey scripts.)
  2. With the IQ window docked to one side of the screen (shortcut Win+Left/Right in Windows), the in-place editor for grid items refuses to work (editing starts briefly, but then IQ jumps back to grid selection mode).
  3. The red and white 'close tab' buttons that appear when hovering over tabs with the mouse cursor will linger on top of other programs' windows in a ghostly fashion when quickly changing to another window after one of the buttons has popped up. (Maybe this is system specific?)

Always hide fields

Is there a way to set a field to  load hidden?  I couldn't find a setting in the fields dialogue.

If there isn't, consider this a suggestion.  I have a number of fields I always want hidden, and it's a pain to have to do that manually every time I create a grid.

An equally good alternative is my previous suggestion that the "load columns" command should recognize hidden columns (right now they don't).

How do I get the document pane to show in the new item dialogue?

Submitted by Hilary on 2019/03/21 18:08
The help page for the new item (win+N) window shows 'item text' at the top, and 'doc pane content' at the bottom.

When I use Win+N, I get the new item dialogue with just the 'item text' field and no 'doc pane'. How can I get it to show?

(By the way, this is my first post, and I hope I'll be able to log back in here again. The 'edit' tab on the 'My account' screen has no fields to edit, only a submit button, so I can't change my password as instructed. So in case I can't log back in, thanks in advance for any replies!)
