It's a bid of annoyance when I enter items into the grid, and I reach the bottom of the grid workspace.  I get to the point where I can't see all the text in the item as I'm entering it.  I have to press the down arrow a bunch of times to move the bottom item up to about the middle of the grid workspace.  At that location I can enter text without having the problem I described.

 

Would it be possible to make IQ auto-scroll the grid so that the bottom item will be at a certain distance above the bottom of the workspace?

This may be a Windows problem rather than an IQ problem.

 

When the IQ CHM help file is open, along with IQ, the icon visible in the taskbar shows a Help icon rather than an IQ icon.  Makes it a little more trouble to find IQ.  However, an easy work around is to press Alt-Tab and switch to IQ that way.

 

 

It appears that when InfoQube (or the computer) crashes, you lose all your layouts.  Is there a way to save the current layout and have InfoQube default to that if there's a crash? 

 

I have another program that automatically reverts to the previously saved layout if the current open program crashes.  Even that would be a big improvement because my layouts don't change much from session to session.

Steps (probably reproducible with a sample with enough items)

 

- Clicked on a favorite (using omnibox)

(note : the item's home grid is some "generic grid" I sometimes use to do some searches, etc. -- as an extra search/scratch grid), 

 

- The grid opens, but  seems like it was originally set to show too many items (that's anecdotal), so IQ warns me (dialog) that the grid will show about 10500 items, and asks me if it should go ahead or avoid doing it.

(Note that this should probably not happen as I just clicked on 1 favorite, a single item, so the grid should load the grid with only 1 item.)

 

- When I pressed "cancel" to avoid waiting for the grid to open with more than 10500 items, IQ crashed.

 

Tried a few times, crashes every single time.

Unlike my last question about text limits in cells, this is one that I would like to see addressed, if possible.

 

As discussed previously, I'm working on a project that requires copying text from PDF's into InfoQube.  As suggested by Pierre, I've found that the most efficient way to accomplish this tedious task is to copy a whole page of text at a time, then split it up inside InfoQube.

 

If splitting text was an occasional task, I wouldn't be mentioning this but when you're doing for hours at a time, any step-saving is welcome.

 

Suggestion #1: Keep the grid view in the same position after an item is split.

It appears that there's a limit on how much text an item cell will display.  It appears to be about 400 words and isn't affected by changing the column width.  Words over that limit are still there when you enter edit mode, but they're not displayed in the grid.

 

Is that correct?

Using a combination of Shift+Arrowkey shows a formatting toolbar (Note: I was just trying to select text)

 

This also the case when editing a new item.

 

Note 1:

Clicking okay to save changes works, even if the toolbar has shown.

 

Note 2:

I presume it should work like in the grid where a return will finish editing.

 

I've noticed that hyperlinking to another grid by providing the grid name as the link doesn't focus on the target grid when clicked. It does seem to flash to the other grid very quickly, and it does open the target grid if it is closed, but you end up staying in the grid that has the link.

Not sure if this is an IQ bug or something going on with this particular laptop, but I'll put it out there just in case.

 

If I am editing text in a grid cell, using the non-wysiwyg editor, the cursor sometimes disappears.  So that I can't tell whether the item is active for editing or not.

 

It was bothering me so much that I switched toe the wysiwyg editor.  In the wysiwyg editor the cursor does not disappear, but I did notice that sometimes it just stops blinking.

 

I think I did not notice this until about 0.9.94, but it has persisted through 0.9.95. 

Various problems surrounding the use of SQL and of list of values pop-ups have been introduced by a recent IQ version - but I'm not sure which one, sorry.

 

If I create a new IQbase and create fields Classification (text) and ClassKey (type = List of items pop-up, Field containing the pop-up value = Classification), the pop-up list is shown as empty even when I populate the field Classification with several values.

 

In my longstanding main IQbase, I have various SQL-derived fields and pop-up lists. One such field, called KindVal, has type = SQL query (advanced),
