2 weird things pre 7

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/13 17:53
1. I can't reproduce this yet but it has happened to me 3x now.  Somewhere using the short cut keys in the expand / collapse thread, strike thru is enabled.... weird

2. copy / paste data into IQ.  open document w Open Office, edit & save. Data does not reappear in the HTML pane.  However, if user re-opens w open office, edited document is present. Maybe i'm not saving properly.  I'm "'saving" not 'saving as'  And if I'm supposed to "save as", I'm not sure what I would "save as".. Tks.

ability to link item color to state

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/13 07:56
For examples, optionally link / assign /  connect

pending = yellow
done = red
todo = green

Same for fonts

Bold = most important
normal = normal
light black (grey)  = not important

or

different color flag / pin icons that change line color (URp does this)

i.e. a visual clues to an item's state based  on user need

Thx for your consideration

calendar + html

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/11 15:15
IMO it would be neat if calendar days could be linked with html window, ie.
jan 11 -> html window for jan 11
jan 12 -> html window for jan 12

In this way a person could see appts & such in the graphic calendar view & be able to take notes for that day in the html window which would be locked to that day.

Move items from full Inbox

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/11 13:52
The system I am using is to put everything in the Inbox for the moment. I know I can filter by date, i.e. just show me items from the last 7 days, etc. howevver my question requires something different.

Is it possible to move an item from Inbox to another grid?  Is this a silly question given IQ's architecture, i.e. am I applying a wrong conceptual thought process to IQ? Or put it another way, am I thinking Zoot or UltraRecall instead of the IQ paradym?

Site Statistics

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/11 13:20
Pierre, According to Site Stats, there are 60 members of this forum.  May I ask if you know how many people have actually downloaded & have tried / are trying / are working with IQ?  I ask this pointed question to gauge how much time I will spend working with the program no matter how creative it is. I've gone thru several of these types of programs & am frustrated by the amts of time I put in only to find that the developer abandons the effort, etc.  I understand there are no guarantees but I am interested in your response.  Mind you, I'm am wishing / praying for your every success. This is just a selfish question from my POV.  Thanks.

smart entry

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/10 14:36
Pierre, I've been casting about trying to think of an example of what I've mentioned in another thread, i.e. moving items by smart assignment like in Zoot.  I know the following is not the same but, for me, it's a good example of technology at work to make things simple for the user.  While I know IQ is an ambitious work in progress, I'm finding it quirky & techie.  This is not to be negative so i hope it's not rcvd that way but as a positive thought about moving IQ forward into a broad marketplace.  I use a very complex program to catalog all my images but the developer has it made it surprisingly user friendly.

An excellent example of this user friendliness can be found in the google calendar quick entry function. write something in english, i.e. appt w pierre every wed @ 4:00pm and it gets done. Likewise 5:45p drinks 2nd tue or next wed or whatever.

color coding

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/01/10 14:20
Is it possible for the user to define the color coded options. Example: In calendar it's possible to use various colors. As a user I don't think I need an orange dot to be defined as 'orange' as I can see that. I'd prefer to define orange as 'personal', etc.  Same for grid line painting. I don't know about you (in gen'l) but I find color coding quite useful but equally frustrating in that I forget what color i assigned to what. See what I mean?
