Tab Formatting

Submitted by WayneK on 2018/09/14 18:06
Is there any way to add custom icons to tabs?

1) Adding icon info (<img>name</img>) displays the descriptive text, not the icon.

2) Turning on "show icons in vertical tabs" displays the same standard icon on all the tabs, with no way to change it.

I'll also make a pitch for adding standard formatting for tab text.  That would be ideal.  I have 30+ tabs displayed in alpabetical order on the side, which is pretty efficient.  If I could somehow highlight the few tabs I use the most, it would speed up searching for the right one.

Named Colors in Field Properties

Submitted by DragonGem on 2018/09/13 10:59
Not so much a bug as an inconsistency. The Color Selector in the Field Properties jumps directly to the Windows Color picker and bypasses IQ's Color Picker which provides access to the customized Named Colors for the current database. Having IQ store the Color Name instead of the associated Color Value is a stroke of genius.

This is important for me as I name Colors based on their purpose as opposed to the associated Color Value. In theory, this will allow me to fine-tune color combinations after the fact and even create different Color Palettes to highlight different aspects.

In the Calendar, the Field Color determines the Outline of the Event and I use different Date Fields for different Categories of Events (i.e. Meetings, Yearly, Work, etc.).

iq running in compatibility mode?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/09/12 14:32
While troubleshooting another program, I found an entry in the registry related to IQ -

Under the key -

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

There is the following value:

Value Name: C:\infoqube\program\InfoQube.exe
Value Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: ~^ WIN8RTM

Should that be there?  I don't remember setting IQ to run in a compatibility mode, but that doesn't mean I didn't do it.

Customizations lost in 109F

Submitted by Jon on 2018/09/10 08:29
Hi Pierre:

From time to time my customization of the menu and toolbar does not carry over to a new version. A refreshing change was the 109 series. Through all the previews through 109E, this worked perfectly. Not so with 109F. I can re-create my menu and toollbar, but this is a major frustration.

I am using the portable version.

Thank you.

adding file link to existing item - can't select option to store in file link fields

Submitted by jimspoon on 2018/09/08 13:16
I've been experimenting a bit more with file linking.

I thought I would try to link a file to existing item, without changing the Item field or adding a hyperlink to the Item field; rather I just wanted to put the link into the file ref fields.  So I just Ctrl+C copied a random PDF file, then highlighted an IQ item and pressed Ctrl+V.  The Add File dialog comes up and I set the options as follows:

Under "Link Storage" three options are highlighted.  I tried to select "File Link fields" to place the link to the file shortcut into the File Ref fields, but nothing happens.  I can't select "File Link fields".

Also, when selecting "add to the current item", should the "Item Text" box show the text currently in the

User Interface - Document Pane has black top when it has the focus

Submitted by Paul_J_Miller on 2018/09/08 08:28
As you may or may not be aware I have been messing about with the user interface of IQ.  I have created a problem which I don't know how to rectify (apart from a complete wipe and re-install which would loose all my modifications).  I was experimenting with the 'themes' which are not an officially supported feature of IQ.  Some of the themes are quite nice however.

One problem which arose when I changed the themes is that the document pane title bar goes black when the document pane has the focus.

I have changed back to the 'official' theme but the black title bar on the document pane remains and I can't seem to get rid of it.

It's been like this for a while and is not a showstopper but it is mildly annoying.

These images illustrate the problem, excuse the large images (they have already been reduced to ¼ of their original size).

Drag and Drop

Not so much a bug as a small annoying quirk which was puzzling at first until I realised what was going on, now it's just annoying.  To be fair it doesn't happen very often.

When re-organising a hierarchy by dragging items and dropping them in the place they need to be they can sometimes disappear from the grid.  Unless you get the position exactly right, even then it is easy to just move the mouse slightly whilst releasing the button.

This doesn't happen when using the toolbar icons or keyboard shortcuts to move items, only with the mouse.

If you don't get the release position right they are not deleted they just disappear from the grid, so where did they go?  This puzzled me at first but I have a grid called 'All' which shows an unfiltered view of all items in the database.  So I looked in there and sure enough there they were.

Turns out that if you dro
