[Crash] ctrl +shift + number (to expand items) when multiple parents are selected : crashes IQ

Submitted by Armando on 2010/11/18 12:50
I've always used that strategy to expand several parents at once, and go deeper in the hierarchy :  select multiple parents, ctrl +shift + 9.

When I do that with the latest version, IQ crashes.

Confirmation please.

The mysterious case of the disapparing HTML data

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2010/11/18 12:46
I have this grid item. It is a lonely grid item.
It was supposed to be accompanied by a lot of HTML data -- notes taken at a meeting
The item properties are as follows

Item = 19:31 BoS meeting
ItemHTMLTextSize = 377 (Nb values = 1496)
ItemHTMLWordCount = 63 (Nb values = 119)
ItemParent = Wed
ItemTextSize = 408 (Nb values = 12493)
ItemCreated = 11/17/2010 07:31:32 PM

But the HTML pane is BLANK.
So tell me, where are the words hiding?

How do I relink the universal clipper to a specific DB ?

Submitted by Armando on 2010/11/18 11:01
Often I work with 2 open DB, sometimes 3.
I'll then close 1 or 2 and leave only one open.
What happens is that the web clipper will loose its DB link and nothing will happen when I'll press win+N -- most probably because it was linked to one of the DB I just closed.

Is there a way to relink the clipper to the currently opened DB, or is the only way to shut down IQ and re-start it ?
If a restart is warranted, may I suggest that the clipper re-links itself automatically to the DB ? It's a bit cumbersome otherwise.

Ideally, when several DBs are open, we should be able to choose (through a dialog) in which DB will the info be stored/sent.
Mistakes happens otherwise, and I often store info in my Mantis DB thinking it's going in my everyday DB...

Basic Keyboard Shortcuts to control hierarchies collapse/expand should probably be the same in Properties pane and Grid (M)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/11/16 22:28
I wonder why shortcuts to control the hierarchies are different in the properties pane.

Grid and properties pane should probably be similar or identical -- it would be much easier to grasp for the new user, much more intuitive.

So that means that Grids should probably adopt ctrl + left/right  to collapse to the immediate parent or expand the currently focussed item/parent... and get rid of the of the ctrl+"-" ctrl+"+". This would make the whole grid navigation much more efficient  : no more reaching for another spot on the keyboard. Leave your hand in the same spots, move items, navigate in the grid, expand/collapse hierarchies.

(For more "detailed" operations, Ctrl+numbers OR ctrl+shift+numbers is still perfect. No problem with that.)

But maybe are there cons to such an approach... Opinions ?

Undo problems (Major): erased something in the filter text box and pressing CTRL-Z (to recover filter) undid something else (M)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/11/16 17:32
This has been mentioned once or twice already (I'll link the other threads later).

To summarize again :

1- I  erased something in the filter text box
2- So I pressed CTRL-Z to recover what I just lost...
3- And it undid something else... Something happened in the DB (mouse cursor changed to the hourglass).
4- The very annoying thing is that I have no idea what was undone because this happened after I had been away from my computer for a short while. So I immediately pressed ctrl-y but nothing at all seemed to happen. :(

This is not the first time it happens to me, and it doesn't happen only in that specific case.

Wordwrap

Certainly not high on the list of priorities, but I propose changing "Wordwrap" to "Fold." I think this would be more consistent with terminology used by  other outliners.

Paste items (XML) as TLIs in a grid (with complex source & auto-assign) : they disappear after refresh. (M)

Submitted by Armando on 2010/11/14 22:11
My source is :

Field1 OR field2

Field1 is set to be auto assigned to all items created in the grid.

- If I copy some items as XML in another grid (with different source) and paste them in the above mentioned grid (with Field1 OR field2 as the source), items "aren't pasted".  Well, they are, but they don't meet the source and disappear.

- Also : i can't drag and drop from one grid to the other as TLI. Impossible. The "crossed circle" sign appears and nothing happens.

I'd understand the problem with another kind of complex source, but not in this case (plus, there's an auto-assign rule, so it should really be treated as a simple source). I also have the feeling that it wasn't like that before.
