How To > In item hierarchy TLI only should be bold automatically but not sub-items

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2011/07/26 17:06
In item column I want to automate all TLIs to be bolded in a certain grid
However I want all sub-items to be in normal font unless user manually adds bold command, i.e. select + <CTRL>B
Can this be done?
If so, how?
Tks

In InfoQube, outline formatting is structured as a hierarchy. In increasing order of precedence, these are:

IQ insists on putting my grid source inside [ ]

Submitted by Armando on 2011/07/25 16:30
I have a source which goes like that:

zzComptes OR Comptes

When I refresh, IQ rewrites it to be:

[zzComptes OR Comptes]

... and then gives me the error :  "error reading data. Check source, filter, etc."

The work around is to write my source as : [zzComptes] OR [Comptes]. I don't know if that is a problem with that specific grid or what... but just thought I'd mention it...

auto assign equation not auto assigning under certain circumstances

Assume for the moment that my auto-assign equation is corrrect
Assume for the moment that it is one of several auto-assign rules & it is not the last one in the series
Assume filters are not an issue
Assume Source is not an issue
Assume I closed / re-opened IQ between creation of auto-assign rule & test (shouldn't be necessary)
Assume I jumped to a different grid & back to test rule (shouldn't be necessary)
Assume I jumped to a different item & back to test rule (shouldn't be necessary)

Goal:
if item contains word election then add check mark to Boolean field check mark

Result:
IQ doe this ok if -- and only if -- the word election appears by itself in the item
but as soon as there Is another word in the item or a new item with a full sentence including the word "election"
Ex: election petition deadline i

move item up / down from one parent to another

I notice that IQ does not allow me to do something I can do in Ecco.

In Ecco, I can use alt-up and alt-down to move a subitem from one parent item to another.  That is, if a subitem is the first subitem under one parent, I can use alt-up to make it the last subitem of the previous parent item.  Conversely, if it is the bottom subitem, I can use alt-down to make it the first subitem of the next parent item.

In IQ, alt-up and alt-down can only be used to order subitems under the same parent.  When the subitem is already the first subitem, alt-up has no effect.  When it already is the last subitem, alt-down has no effect.

Queries re settings: working with IQ on two machines (USB stick)

Submitted by Tom on 2011/07/19 15:16

At the moment I'm using IQ from a usb stick. Today I used IQ & hibernated the machine.
This evening I almost started IQ on a different machine - with the same file - but I stopped myself out of fear of what might happen-

Would this be dangerous to do? I mean if I open the file now and make changes to it, what happens when I go back to the first machine where the file is technically still open? I realise the file is saved so should be safe enough, but I had changed some IQ settings too. I can work around this by simply not connecting the usb stick & close IQ, then reopen it again.

Is there a way to save IQ's settings? Didnt there used to be a "Save" for that? Dont see it now....

[SUGGESTION] helpful tweak for new-item/edit behaviour

Submitted by Tom on 2011/07/18 11:08
GUI Tweak that would be very helpful:

When an item is selected, and I press Enter to create a new item - the new item is also selected.
If I then press F2 to edit, nothing happens.
I then have to use tabkey, but focus jumps first to the # column and then from there to the field to the right of the item/tree field i.e. item field gets skipped. I then have to use Shift+Tab to get back.
i.e. it's very messy trying to create and type in the new item.

Suggestions (dont know if possible)
if an item is selected, and F2 is pressed, the tree field would go into edit-mode.
AND /  OR
if an item is selected and Tab key is pressed, the focus would go to the item field first - or second after the # field (but maybe there's a reason for the other behaviour?)

always display all lines of Item field in grids?

Submitted by jimspoon on 2011/07/13 17:54
Noob question here, tried to find the answer on my own, but couldn't find it.  When I click on any Item, IQ displays all lines of text in the Item field, and collapses the display of all other items to one line only.  To display all lines of the Item field of another Item, I have to click it.  I am noticing this in the Scratch and Search grids.  Is there a way to make IQ always display all lines of text in the Item field?
