IQ not recognizing that DB needs to be overwritten with sync folder DB file

Submitted by jimspoon on 2025/02/21 11:37

This has been a long term problem for me - an updated version of a database is in my desktop sync folder (on OneDrive), definitely containing data changes made on my laptop, but IQ running on my Desktop won't recognize that the sync folder file contains data changes, and won't prompt me to replace the desktop version with the sync folder version.   I've tried the usual tricks on my laptop - I've tried adding an item on my laptop, bolding text in an item, etc.

Specific multi-day appointment not syncing with Google Calendar

I've recently done a full sync to try to get this event to sync but no luck. The only difference between this multi-day appointment and another one that's being synced without issue is that the one that works correctly only has thein default 45 min before appointment reminder while the problematic one has a very long list of reminders (10w,  8w,  6w,  4w,  2w,  1w,  5d,  3d,  2d,  1d). Could this be preventing the event from being synced?

Thanks!!

sync remote database via ODBC, how it works?

After our recent discussion about JOINs I looked over the manual pages about ODBC and ODC, especially the page at https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/index.php/node/865 (Sync with a fictitious SQL Server database) and I just want to see how well I'm understanding ODBC sync.  Mainly I'm trying to understand how changes/additions/deletes in the remote database would sync to the IQ database.

Ultra Recall is still going??

I just happened to notice a BitsDuJour email informing me that Ultra Recall was being offered for sale today.  In some ways I'm a bit surprised, in other ways not.  Years ago I tried it out and I thought it had some good features, but there were some things that made me give it up.  I was especially annoyed how my UR version would no longer work after I updated to a newer version of Windows, forcing me to pay to a newer version of UR.  Finally I made the transition from Ecco to IQ, and I found IQ to be vastly superior to UR.

Put thread title at the top of the thread

It's funny, I never noticed this before.  When I clicked on Forum > Updates from the side menu, I got the list of "Recent Forum Posts."  I clicked on the top link, the thread title "Can a JOIN statement be used to combine information from grids?".  So then I was taken to the page that has the discussion in that thread - https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/node/6019 .  I asked myself, what is the title of this thread?  And then I noticed that the thread title - i.e.

Countdown for a certain date in the future (with daily refresh)

Hey. What's the most effective way to count down to a certain date in the future?

Using a column with a bit of VB scripting? Or is there a more 'native' solution?

Also, rather than display the countdown values in a separate column, is there any way I could calculate this number inside the 'item text' field - or display it there (if it were a column value), surrounded by text?

Many thanks!
