Pasting multiline text creates new items

Submitted by Tom on 2009/10/07 17:23
easily repoducible here in different portable installs (clean and in my usual install):

  1. copy multiline text
  2. paste into selected text field. It doesnt matter if multi-line or not - but NOT in edit mode.
  3. select "Paste all text into the selected cells"
  4. the first line goes into the selected cell - a new item is made for each following line (see screenshot)

the text was pasted into the (highlighted) comments field of Item # 5 - Items 6 - 8 were created on pasting

EDIT/ guess I'm stating the obvious here - workaround is to simply make sure field is in edit mode
Can anyone confirm this BTW ?

[SOLVED] VB itemcolor (e.g. : &H6DB6B6) will disrupt HTML export

Submitted by Armando on 2009/10/07 04:08
if an item colour is not set in the general IQ Options, it blocks the multiple column table format html export (NOT the "bullet only" outline one for single columns).

So basically all "itemcolor" vb codes like "&H6DB6B6" will disrupt the export.

Can anybody confirm that ?

child assigned to boolean field w/o inheritance option

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/10/06 12:28
Situation:

Contact list = boolean field
Properties: inheritance value -> sub-items is un-checked
Equations: hierarchy equation is none & blank

any item entered within Contact list grid is automatically assigned to 'contact list' field
so far so good

To get phone #, etc I find contact & create a sub-item within contact list grid
the child (sub-item) is also automatically assigned to 'contact list' field

Is this right?

I do want to be able to call up a contact & get the history of my interaction with them.

If this thread is in the wrong place, move it where it should be .... discussion perhaps
To me, it seemed like a bug but I'm never sure

Thanks.

w 3 panes open: outline, html, properties (form pane nested)

focus on outline
click <F11> outline pane zooms full screen

focus on html pane
click <F11> html pane gets detatched

focus on properties pane (w nested form pane)
click <F11>  properties pane disappears, i.e. form pane zooms

focus on forms pane (nested within properties pane)
click <F11> form pane zooms, eliminating properties

I think <F11> should toggle & be limited to the following:

zoom outline full screen, i.e.

Cannot dismiss repair dialog

Submitted by Jon on 2009/10/05 11:44
Hi Pierre:

Using version G8 (sounds like a summit). The repair dialog used to have an OK button just like the compact dialog. These acknowledge completion of the process.

I don't know - I'm getting a bit discouraged. IQ is a wonderful concept, but right now there are too many idiosyncracies, too many work-arounds, too many useablility issues and too many annoyances I have to put up with. It is fun seeing what IQ can do, but I need to get work done. I know this is a beta, so I should keep my mouth shut. For now, it is  back to Ultra Recall (which I have never stopped using) and Ecco Pro. I plan to keep on using IQ casually and will continue to contribute what I can.

To be able to copy and paste (XML mode) ONLY items displayed in a grid (i.e. : meet source and filters)

Submitted by Armando on 2009/10/04 18:08
I think I've requested that a while ago. And I think it'd be very very useful and would take advantage of IQ's potential.
Hopefully, it'd possible.

Usage : I'd like to easily be able create "Outline templates" for different tasks, projects, etc. by copying and pasting them.

Let's say I'm working on a project and would like to create a template out of the organizational outline for that project. After filtering out all the project's specific info, display in a grid the main structure/skeleton of the project -- which is very easy to do if one identifies titles with a Yes/No field --  I'd like to be able to copy and paste that outline.

Problem
However, this is not possible at the moment.

Cursor problems in HTML pane

Submitted by Tom on 2009/10/04 13:22
Anyone else experiencing this in the HTML pane?

with HTML content:
the cursor often doesnt show where it should. It's sometimes a couple of letters behind - usually just slightly off though) making it difficult to select text or delete letters.

It's not noticable (or at least not a problem) at times - possibly with text that's spread out more but I'm not 100% sure.

To complete some operatons: Refresh, Jump between itmes, grids or program re-start

Submitted by jan_rifkinson on 2009/10/04 12:27
Sometimes one / all of these things are necessary to get something work right.
Is there a rhyme or reason for any of it?
What are the rules?

I've had copied data in an html pane change format from center to left just shifting between items
I've had data disappear / appear clicking between items
I've had shortcut keys stop working until program re-starts
I've had IQ stop functioning after deleting a large # of items
I've had IQ drop out completely on occassion
And there are other quirks as well...
